You will see more and more of this due to rapidly tightening energy standards. The manufacturers need to use less and less water with each new model but end up running longer per cycle. Will it work as well? Who knows but we all know about the low water use toilets. Saves water with each flush but requires 2-3 hits of the trigger to flush the load...

That's why I'll keep my older Maytag Intellisense d/w (MDB9962AAE). Washes like a mother****er and still does allright in water usage.

The Kenmore version available since 10/07 was already tested and reported on by CR in the March '08 issue. Their tests for all machines discussed; call for very heavily soiled dishes allowed to stand overnight. They select the Normal cycle with hi-temperature wash option and heated dry. The Kenmore HE clocked in @ 145 minutes. All the tested machines ran from 100 to 145 minutes.

My own experience with the Kenmore HE is pretty much the same. Lesser soiled loads are done about 20 minutes sooner. There is a 1 hour wash cycle that you can add the heated drying to for 90 minute cycle. That cycle uses a little more water and overall energy.

The way to get greatly extended cycles as described in the previous post; is to select Pots n Pans, Steam-sanitize, heated dry and the 4 hour delay options & add room temperature incoming water.

The machine has a variable speed brushless d/c wash pump motor. It draws less than 2 amps. The heater consumes 850 watts for water heating and 535 watts for drying. Unless you need the dishes in a hurry, the run time almost becomes unnoticeable as the machine sound level(46-47db) is so low you can hardly hear it operate.
