Washers and dryers always have a tendancy to wring out coins and other stuff left in the pockets of clothes. What's the biggest payout your washer has given you? I just found a $10 bill on the bottom of my Danby this afternoon. Not sure what pair of pants they came out of, but it was nice finding paper money there! It's pretty amazing paper money will hold out going through all that splashing around in water, detergent, bleach and softener, and the ink doesn't even run

I remember Mom would always keep any of the cash she would find in the washing machine, so if you heard any clinking around while it was running, you'd better hurry before the cycle was finished!

I usually will find a quarter or two in the folds of the rubber boot of my Frigemore. But usually I will hear it clanking around in the dryer. It's a nerve racking sound that offsets the pleasure hum and whir of the old GE. The most payoff like I said might be 25-50c.

I find all kinds of coins from pennies to dollars in the washer, and paper (usually $1s or $5s) in the dryer. I usually dry any paper I find in the washer, as it is sopping wet 99.9% of the time.

Biggest payout

The biggest payout my washer ever gave was to the Maytag repairman!

I have a Maytag dryer with the 'halo of heat', and a dime that the washer missed made its way into the dryer. I guess because of the nature of the design, it landed on the element and burned it out. That was a long time ago and although I don't remember how much it cost to repair, I know it wasn't cheap. None of the paper money or coins that the washer has given up since has even begun to repay it!

I once found a 20 dollar bill in the centrifuge at the laundromat, of course I found it after I started the centrifuge and heard it in the outer drum, I hit the emergency stop because I thought part of the comforter had flung out of the inner drum and was melting, but nothing was wrong and I got 20 bucks for pushing the big red button! It was awesome!

Not only washers and dryers-but I had some change that I found in some Trade-in Kirbys-used it to buy snacks at work-unfortunately two of the Kirbys payed the price too-the coins busted their plastic fans-replaced them.

Found Money

When I repalced the motor iin my '78 KM dryer, there was a virtual piggy bank of coins under the mount of the motor where the fan was. Since these machines use a cylinder with a stationary bulkhead, coins tend to slip through the gasket and fall to the floor of the machine. A lot coins never make it to the dryer because I can hear them scraping around in the washer during the agitation, and look for them when I transfer the clothes

I found a $100 bill in the washer. Wife left it in her jeans. I kept my mouth shut until 3 days later when she was frantically searching the house and wouldn't tell me why. After letting her sweat for a while I told her.

My cousin's wife has a tendency to wash clothes without emptying the pockets. As a result, I've found various coins and bills in the bottom of her FilterFlo, and we've always split the money evenly.

Kirby bank

All the incidents of coins in washers and dryers made me think of something elese-Any other Kirby user-owner notice the slot on the back of the Kirby upright handle-and the little knob on the back of the handle-the slot is for coins you find on the floor you are cleaning.the knob allows you to remove the back handle panel to "empty' your Kirby "bank" even Kirby salesmen don't know this-and it isn't even shown in new Kirby sales doco!!I have explained the Kirby "bank" to the salespeople in my area. They found it interesting!

I wish I found money in my washing machine.

One of my flatmate is an utter bogan/boofhead who drinks copius amounts of beer and all I ever find in the gasket of my washing machine in beer bottle tops.

But as of Saturday I shall be moving into a new flat and wont ever have to see/hear/smell him again!

YAY!

Dryer Delivers a Payload

I cleaned out my dryer last year and found $3.52 in coins in the front corners of the dryer. Once I dusted them off I had soda/snack money for about week. It was great! But I guess I shouldn't wait 5 years to clean it out again, huh?
