Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Powdered "ALL" was the low sudsing detergent that was recommended by Westinghouse for my folks brand new 1947 Westinghouse front load washer. The bulk of Folks in the USA only heard of this thing of low sudsing 1/2 century later; when the USA rediscovered the front load washer.

One can wash clothes with no soaps at all, folks did this for many thousands of years. Plain dirt will come out of clothes via just water and working the dirt out. On can rub in dirt too to have the dirt bind with the oils too; then wash out this stuff of dirt binded to 0ils and greases

Once I saw softener glom up the window like it was sprayed with skillet oil, I quit using it. What good is a soft towel that is waterproof? The Frigi softens the final rinse. I didn't like that either, but I let it happen then reset to double final rinse. With 'enough' detergent to start with, that rerinse would unglom the glass.

I remember All. We bought 25# tubs of it. Monsanto at the time, then they sold it, then it got sold again. Aimed at Westys and Bendys but advertised for TLs (lots more of them). Gawd help me, I still remember the jingle. "Auto-matic automatic auto-matic wa-shers wash best with new super rinse All controlled suds detergent". Then a graphic discussion about the dreaded "SUDS CLOG"! Which actually is a problem for the Frigi, less so the Westy, less yet the TLs unless you REALLY overdid it with one of the max-foamers of the era.

Me... I don't really need to see any suds at all. What I go by is if the stuff got clean. Yes I won't know that until the load is completed, but I am not going anywhere and will be doing laundry the next week....so if I need to use more or less I have plenty of opportunity to do so. Growing up I think my Mom used DASH because it did not create a lot of suds... and she never used chlorine bleach and....everything was clean....so lack of suds .....no problem...and better for me.
