This is exactly like my mother's first dishwasher only hers carried the Frigidaire brand name. Notice how the silverware basket sits directly above the plastic impeller. We destroyed quite a few of the impellers by accidentally dropping silverware down there and not notcing it. It wasn't a bad machine if you washed every food particle off the dishes before loading and running.

That is a very pretty machine - looks like it wasn't used much, fairly common with these older d/w's it seems. Have you been able to run a load through it yet?

Was the fill metered or timed?

Never mind! Looks like a water safety level device based on single-pole single throw wiring.

It would therefore have to be timed!

(If it were metered there would be another wire from the pressure sensor switch sending current to the motor when the water level was "satisfied"

I did run a load through it although every dish and utensil was rinsed before I ran them through. In the second picture, hanging from the top rack near the upper right side is the chrome soap dispenser. I used Electrasol powdered dw detergent. It left no spots and had a pleasent scent to it.I still need to do a real test with some dirtier dishware but I want to wait until I resolve the problem with the dry cycle. It's only in that cycle where the unit sets off my GFI outlet. Is this common with these older units? The unit does have a pressure switch but the fill is timed so you are correct toggleswitch. Fill level was a little high during the first run so I backed off the sink tap half way and then the level was normal. I posted a picture of a closeup of the metal soap dispenser. Is this where it usually hangs?

Great pictures! Does the instruction manual indicate the cycle sequence, i.e. how many washes, rinse and what order and how about the amount of water usage.

Yes the manual does have a full cycle description. There are nine cycles all together. (1) one minute swirl rinse (2)ten min. wash with heat (3)one min. drain (4) half min. swirl rinse (5) one and a half min. power rinse with heat (6) one min. drain (7) one and a half min. power rinse with heat (8) one min. drain (9) sixteen min. drying period. The unit consumes 6.3 gallons in a 33 and a half minute cycle period. Here are two more pictures from the service manual.

What a great dw

It may just work better with the new enzyme detergents than the original powders from the 50's- 80's. Not sure if Electrasol powder has enzymes like the tabs do.

The tub and racks don't look even slightly used, amazing.
Hows about lifting out that flatware basket and giving us a shot of the impellar. Does it have fan drying or just element?

Strange that the GFI would only trip during the dry cycle, since the motor and heating element are wired such that they are always on together. If it's going to trip, it should trip immediately. Very strange.

I wouldn't worry about fiddling with the tap to reduce the fill, the pressure switch will not let it overfill.

toggleswitch- Soap dispenses at the 10 minute power wash. It's just a simple open ended metal soap dispenser that hangs off of the top basket.

PeteK- Deep cleaning power Electrasol in lemony powder form averages not more than 4.5% phosphorus, in the form of phosphates wich is equivalent to 0.72 grams per tablespoon use level. Other ingredients include water softeners, chlorine bleach, cleaning agents (that could be anything), dishwasher and china protection agents (?), perfume and colorant.

frontaloadotmy- racks and rubber that used to be white are now yellowed but not dried or cracked. I used rubber protectant on all rubber parts. The fan AND element come on together during dryng period and yes, I'll have that impeller photo for you soon.

kenmore1978- I can't understand the problem either. It's only when the element is NOT submerged or surrounded by water in any way that the GFI outlet trips. I have not tried to run this unit on a regular outlet so I don't know if it will trip my circuit breaker.
