Thanks !

I have a lot of ads/brochures/instruction books for the older SQ's but never saw this one. Thanks for posting. I wish I had this brochure :-(. Thanks again ! I have a lot of old brochures for the Green models. Sure wish I had one of those. My Grandma and Aunt had green ones. They both had green porcelain tubs. I never saw an old green metal tub one.

Built in thermometer!

That's the first time I've heard of that on a Speed Queen, or any other make! Thanks for posting those pics! If I had the room, a vintage SQ would be on my wish-list.

green one?

I've never heard of a green Speed Queen. Wow, am I out of the loop or what. Can I see a pic of one of those? I've only seen the white.

These pics are wonderful. Boy, I wish they still sold these beauties. How many times have we all said that? Thanks for posting.

Gpevas, Thank You!  Very nice photographs in your vintage SQ booklet!  Please elaborate on the "acid testing" in the sound proof booth?  Operating noise, leaking water or ?

My reply

Air2903 I have no idea on what the testing procedures were back then I guess the sound proof booth was for how much noise it made during use? Anyway I am glad people liked the photos. I am a Speed Queen wringer nut! I use my wringer for all washing except for towels. The green Speed Queen wringer they are talking about is the model from the 1930s I posted a few pictures in another booklet I have. You can't tell it is green because the booklet is black and white. The washer that has the temperature gauge is my dream machine I wish I could get my hands on. I have other booklets of Speed Queen wringers I will post but I need to find them.

Agitators

Has Speed Queen always stuck with the same design agitator in all of their wringers? Black, white, red, metal, all that I've seen have always been the same style no matter what color, or material.

Speed queen agitator

I think Speed Queen stuck to there design in agitators for there wringers because it worked and worked well! The Speed Queen wringer bowel shaped tub and there agitator design never looked different until they changed the agatator post design. Then it took on a different look but not by much! Water Witch did you get your name from Sears's wringer washer name?

Gpevas, mom11

Yes I did Gpevas! Mom11, Speed Queen did make green washers, but for some reason are very hard to find. Green wringers are my favorite. I remember seeing a green Speed Queen image online a while back, it looked as if it had long legs and a shallow tub, and big balloon wringer rollers.

Bradross

That's it, that's just like the one I was talking about. See, the agitator IS different, its got a four vane instead of a three, very similar to a Maytag. I'm partial to an agitator with large vanes at the bottom, and on the post like the ones in a 50's Speed Queen automatic.

I've always been curious about that too...

seeing that a 4-bladed version would naturally result in more water currents than a 3-blade design. Interestingly, SQ went back to the 4-vane polypropylene agitator in the SuperTwin, eventhough the basic design is the same as the 3-vane used in later wringer washers.
