Father Knows Best Home For Christmas 1977 Reunion Movie

I stumbled onto these holiday movies on you tube. I remembered this because it has, at 40 minutes, the Lady Kenmore combo. At 56 minutes there is what looks like a rainbow flag in the attic and at 1:08:39 there are more glimpses of the combo. I gave the link to the show and the places you can fast forward to if you care. I remember watching this in 1977, but had forgotten all of the shmaltz, histrionics, unnecessary plot twists and complications and the way the little girls screamed every time they opened their mouths.  In 1977, I still wished for a combo, but my wishes were recorded and brought to fruition a few years later.

MtM show:

Betty White was a "b" in it. She sort of reversed the slutty role with Blanche in Golden girls. Oddly Sue Ann Niven could could, Betty White said in the game show with her husband she wasn't very good. Her in laws came for dinner, and all she knew how to fix was ham.
The movie Bringing down the house gave her another rude role as the neighbor lady.
She said in a scene "I saw negro", and another asked Georgie who cut his hair. "You look like a fag."

In the British film, My Beautiful Launderette, an English  guy and his Pakistani partner remodel an old coin laundry and take sledge hammers to commercial Frigidaire three ring agitator washers. We were the only people who groaned loudly when the hammers crashed needlessly into the Frigidaire washers.

There was an AMP on the service porch of the Hudson Sisters' house in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane

Father Knows Best had both a complete Westinghouse kitchen and laundry followed by Bendix/Crosley appliances.

In Batteries Not Included, Hume Cronin and Jessica Tandy's apartment has a Maytag wringer washer and a mid-late 60s Frigidaire gas dryer.

On My Three Sons, they had an RCI-61  and the most comically undersized refrigerator for a family with 5 men along with a Frigidaire Deluxe washer and dryer in the laundry room. One time a wheel rolled out of the room and into the kitchen.

Bachelor Father with John Forsythe and Noreen Corcoran, Ssster of Kevin Corcoran in Disney films,  had a gas kitchen and later a Hotpoint kitchen with the double wall ovens featuring one of the early microwave ovens. for Peter to use. "Niece Kelly, I zapped dinner for you." Uncle Bentley also drove a beautiful Chrysler convertible.

Tom,

yeah, My beautiful Laundrette was great! In the British version of "Shameless" series, a Pakistani's wife is a store owner near ther housing estate where his slightly younger boyfriend lives. His older sister does laundry, and kicks the washer to get it to spin. Their dad is a gyro check drunk on the govt. dole. Her boyfriend buy's them a new washer, and dad gets angry when she shrank his shirt in boil wash.
The store managers wife catches them in the act in the stock room, and threatens him with divorce and poverty if he doesn't break it off.

Reactor, thank you for the tip on the movie "The Magnetic Monster." I am a fan of the old 1950's SciFi movies, and I hadn't seen that one before. I liked it.

In the movie'Hud" Patricia Neal has what looks like an early 60's Hotpoint washer or possibly an Easy on the back porch off the kitchen. In "Whatever Happened To baby Jane" Bette Davis has a Maytag AMP in the kitchen.

MTM Show

Thanks for posting that episode!  That show was one of the great comedy lineup shows that CBS had in the early 1970's and was a terrific combination of talented people.  I just love Betty White's character - she was just such a B*tch and, as noted above, the total opposite of her later character in TGG.  All of the characters had great timing and could really get the laughs.

Blast from the Past

Also shown is a Frigidaire Flair. Sissy Spacek removes a cooked roast from it and takes it along as she and Christopher Walken head to the fall out shelter during the assumed nuclear attack.

The film clip below doesn't show the range. The still is of the kitchen in the fall out shelter with an identical unit.

In case you didn't know, the premise of the film is that Annabel, a teenage girl, swaps bodies with her Mother, Ellen. Ellen has to cope with Annabel's day at school and Annabel is responsible for everything at home that Ellen would usually deal with.

Annabel, in the body of Ellen, tries to do the laundry but stuffs *everything* into the washer, chucks loads of detergent in and switches it on. She goes off to watch TV and a short while later hears the washing machine banging and clattering. She runs into the laundry room and the machine is going nuts! It then floods the laundry room just as the housekeeper, Mrs. Schmauss, arrives to give her scathing opinion on what has happened.
