Moving a Kenmore front loader

I have an LG built kenmore, about 5 years old, which I need to move about 2 hours away.
It's just too big to move upright, but if the control knob comes off easily I could manage to get it on it's back.
With the 4 shipping bolts in place to stabilize the tub, can it be moved on its side without risking damage?
Does it matter which side?
Any other precautions to avoid damage?

Or should I just forget the whole thing?

With the SHIPPING BOLTS installed, you should be good.  

 

I would move it on it's back as long as it's setting on some cushy blankets  AND  there is no pressure put on water valves or drain connections that might be projecting.

I moved a Miele 5 hours lying on its back in the rear of my GMC Jimmy...and it didn't have shipping bolts to put in.  I put it on a very soft and cushy blanket.  That was a few years ago and it's still going.

Yes, I've purchased four Miele front loaders; transported them upright without shipping bolts installed. They all work just fine. Well, the three (one 1918, two 1065, I tested work OK. One more (1065) is still being stored in the carport, have never run it. But based on the others, it should be fine.

heavy machines

These are heavy machines that may take more than a couple of full grown adults to move. I tried to tilt the machine back only to find out how heavy it was.

Well I'm no weight lifter, but I honestly don't recall a problem tilting the machines onto the tailgate, putting them upright, and then cinching them down against the cab with tie-downs.

No but they are certainly heavy. Heavier than a dryer especially which is just a couple of pieces of folded sheet metal thrown together with a motor.

A Front loader has cement balancing weights in it giving it that special I'm going swear-really-loud-if-this-sob-falls-on-my-foot quality.

Yes, one must be careful with the washers. However I don't recall having a problem. Maybe I asked the seller to help with the loading. And maybe unloading was easier. Probably also used moving blankets.

One nice feature of the Miele washers is that they don't use concrete weights. Instead they use cast iron weights. Probably saves on space inside the cabinet. And looks better to the repairman.

Well, guess not.
I did move the washer on its back.
Installed & tried "spin only" to be sure it was level. check.
Started a wash cycle; filled & washed fine. check.

Then it stopped dead. no error code, no lights at all, nothing.
Tried unplugging- over night. no good.
Tried a variety of press and hold "power" and "start" button combinations, plugged in and not. still no.

Did I fry the electronics?
Is there anything else I might try before I throw in the towel?

Might it be a ground problem? seem to recall a similar problem with a DW which turned out to be a circuit issue.
Ready to try anything.
