no more than a few sofa cushions will do
is what I have found here.
hello hhsuds,
more than a couple of friends here had been moving Mieles successfully. Should you happen to have the original drum-arresting rods, please use them: Insert, lock and go moving.
Even if not: From the oldest (some 1950s units) to the latest: Just remove the top cover, insert 2 sofa cushions or mattress cut-offs to the sides (to keep the tub from swinging sideways) and one to the back (between the drum spider and the back wall of the cabinet), this should do for a safe transportation.
PCB failures? Just seen them when a banging drum has had the chance to wiggle off the compound cable connectors (read: old moisture + wrong refitting them = bang /error).
I've found older Miele units (some 80s or 90s machines) having been transported (the standing way, ok) in a pick-up for some 1280 km without any safety devices at all (that is more than north to south Germany, it was to Austria all right) without any failure. I would not be so sure when transported on their sides (or on their backs). Just keep the moving parts from moving, end of story.
If not, you can blame me and I will be happy to furnish you with new parts.
So much for all I know.
Good luck and let me know.
Joe
