For those of you who know how unhappy I was with my former job, change has finally happen. I recently accepted an offer from a company in Chicago Illinois. I have 32 days in which to get packed and move. Fortunatly I will still be in the appliance service field.

P.S. you never realize how much junk you have til you have to move it!

Scott, I can tell you first hand what a job you have ahead of you. You are going to love Chicago though, one of my favorite cities. Terry

Scott, congratulations on the new job and job satisfaction again. My thoughts and beset wishes aer with you & Gary during this transition.

Congratulations Scott! And you will love Chicago. I think it is the best city in this area.

Well, like, where in Indiana do you live? NorthWest Indiana like South East Wisconsin is being "annexed" to Illinois as a suburb of one our nations largest cities.
I congrats you on finding a new job and on the exciting new move ahead of you. I hope you know for sure what you are moving toward. Check out the stats on line.

washertalk, We live in south east Indiana. The town is called Bright, Our address says Lawrenceburg, but when people ask I always say Cincinnati. Its right on the bourder where all three states meet.

I think we will like Chicago. We have been to visit many times. B/F says he would never move there but it looks like that has changed. lol

Welcome Scott!

To Chicago, I'm a little biased but I think its the most beautiful city in the US, friendlier than NYC, and not shallow like LA!

I was all about moving this time last year, and came within inches of finally buying a house last May, till I looked around at all the stuff I have(namely a collection of almost 200 vacuum cleaners) and decided I didn't have the energy to move.
All the best with your move! Hit me up when you get to town!

Congratulations!

Congratulations on the new job, and congratulations on the new city.

Chicago is one of my favourite places that I have not yet visited. (I always enjoy looking at it when I fly to my family in Minneapolis.)

Due to a re-routing in 2002, I was stuck at O'Hare for a couple of hours. I don't consider O'Hare to be a fair representation of the city. No airport is a fair representation of its city. Not Hopkins, not Logan, not National-Reagan.

Let me add to the chorus of Congratulations! I love Chicago as well. John is from South Chicago (the city proper, not suburbs) and I love the Chicago accent (which he doesn't think he has)

Anyplace with that many trains and great old hotels is fine with me :-)

Jeff, I live in LA. Fred used to live in LA. Behave yourself! Seriously, Chicago is a wonderful city too, I always had a wonderful time visiting there and thought the people were great. I thought about it now and again over the years when I was back there, before I realized fully that midwest weather is simply not for me, and, save for the climate, I think it would be a darn nice place to live.

Scott, dammit, enjoy your new city and your new job! (smiling)

Dan, don't get me started about "accents" LOL. People in the midwest do NOT have accents, and I have been "accused" on a number of occasions of having an accent since I've been out here! :-)

Scott55405- Do you get the "Are you from Canada?" routine. Or some one always mentions "Fargo" when they hear me talk. Oh Yah, sure you bettcha!

Oh and isn't moving a grand time! You have no idea of all the junks you have till you try to pack it up. If we ever move from here, I'm gonna just leave all this shit here and buy different stuff some where else.

David

Behave myself???

What?? Misbehave??? MOI???

I've lived here almost all my life, its a great place to live and the city never ceases to amaze me! I don't get into it nearly enough as I should!

We are moving to Northbrook. Its a burb about 1/2 hour north of downtown. We decided to rent a house for a year just to make sure everything is going the way it should. We also figured we would need time to sell our house here in Indiana, but as of last night we have a buyer. So we are preatty happy about that. We sold alot of stuff that we figured we would not need or dont want to move. So now we will have go furniture and tv shopping. YAY! Now the only thing I have to find is a place to ride my wing without getting ran over. lol

Hoover I will drop you line sometime after we get settled

Scott

Thanks Scott, looking forward to it!

Nortbrook is not all that far away from me, maybe 30 minutes or so.
I'm in Roselle, about 8 miles due west of O'Hare along Irving Park road.
Congrats on selling the house!
