Threat of storms today plus chances of rain each day this week motivated me to get the non union Husky out and do the homeowner duty.  The deck needed a cleaning, so I put it up on ramps and used a rooster bar and putty knife to remove 2 weeks of gunked on grass. It sho' did stink though.  The duty done and the grass was dry, it did ok on the mow.  Naturally the storms danced around us and I ended up cutting in 86 degree heat.  But the grass is really coming in nice now, the mixture of Rye, Tall Fescue & bluegrass boosted by 32-0-4 fertilizer is making a once bare yard look pretty decent now.

The pirates won so today was 50 per cent off Papa Johns and that fulfilled my nutritional needs for dinner.  I had the windows open most of the day and by 5 PM it was just too hot and stuffy. So I fired up the AC for the first time.  House is nice and cool now but alas, the rest of the week will be in the 50's so I imagine the furnace will be back on at some point.

Glad your yard is looking better, Ben; mine's a mess. I took three years off spreading weed-killer and fertilizer and that's all it took to allow dandelions, something I believe is called purple violets (a carpet of quickly spreading little purple flowers) and clover (blooms little little white ball-like tops) to take over the lawn.

Cut it for the first time last week and found something had dug a hole about the size of small dinner plate toward the back of the yard near the fence.

Anyway, I guess it's time to call LawnPro before the grass is completely choked out by weeds.

The Toro fired right up, despite having to use old gasoline from last season. Stupidly, I didn't add fuel stabilizer to the can until it dawned on about two weeks ago. Didn't seem to cause any problems, thankfully.

At least we've had rain, probably more than we really need at this point. At least when I cut when it is dry, the mower does pretty well. It just does not like ANy dampness on the grass.

My AC is going just fine-and mowed the lawn a few weeks ago-rather had a lawn care guy do it with his new Dixie Chopper ZTR mower -he was anxious to try it-I got a free ride,too-quite a machine.Should be for 10 grand!!He charged a low price for the job-I had to do the back with my cordless electric mower-It only took him 20 min to do the front and side with the Dixie Chopper. When the Dixie Chopper works-sounds like a motorcycle going over your yard. The machine gives a good thrilling ride!
