Below is a link to a page on the Mason City Convention and Visitor's Bureau site that has some info on the wealth of Prairie School architecture there.

Also, Mason City is the inspiration for "River City" in The Music Man; composer Meredith Willson spent his boyhood there and put some of his childhood experiences into the musical.

Allen, then you should have read this agent the riot act, when she said you might be dropped over a $1200 claim. If they dropped you, it would have been their loss not yours.

You pay your premiums in good faith and have every right to demand that Amita do likewise with valid claims, regardless of the amounts.

That's good to know about Amica since I have them for 2 of my cars and my house. Amica is one of the few companies that writes it's own earthquake policy and it's a little better than California Earthquake Authority that most people use if they decide to carry coverage. I had it until I read the fine print and discovered it covered very little as far as valuables like china and crystal. The deductable for the house was still very high too. I'd hate to think my priceless fine dinnerware from Kmart wouldn't be covered.

Wild storm!

Wow! Quite the storm! Glad to hear MSP members are safe! Hate to see all those beautiful mature trees uprooted! Besides washers, I also LOVE big trees!!!

Regards to everybody...Brad

Whether or not your insurance company considers paying a claim its all part of that law that was passed several years ago where an insurance company can set your rates by your credit report and how many claims you have made in the past.

Setting rates is one thing, but cancelling a policy because you make a claim is another. I would find another insurance company, I use American Family Insurance. My adjuster will be out on Tuesday so I will find out exactly what is covered then. According to my insurance guy it "should" all be covered, but I'm not counting my chickens until I know for sure. He was very helpful and seemed generally concerned. He sent out people to look at the damage yesterday and made sure that a tarp was put up over a portion of the roof where some roof shingles were pulled off. I was very pleased with this service so far.

WOW!

Glad to hear everyone is safe. I wonder if the storms caused any problems with the internet. It seemed that the club was was acting up last night. Very slow and had a hard time downloading pictures. Also, Facebook but then again, Facebook doesn't need a storm to be slow and quirky.
