WARNING!!
i came across this youtube video and i couldn't believe my eyes or ears. it literally made my stomach & heart sink!!
i can't believe someone would actually do this...
(not for any faint at heart vintage washer/appliance fans)

don't say i didn't warn you....
(and i still can't believe someone would do this)
why????????????????????

:o(

sorry if i upset you with the video...

combo52/john.

i couldn't believe someone would do this to a vintage washer & dryer, and since it had already been done, thought i would share with fellow vintage appliance/washer fans, what idiots there are in this world, to do something like this to what looks to be a perfectly good working set.

in fact, i'm still kinda shocked. and i keep asking myself "why, would someone do that?" i mean, what was the point of them destroying them maytags??? i can't comprehend it????

Hippiedoll...

Don't trouble your self trying to figure out "why"... these guys are just a pair of low-lifes and they were just washing machines. I know this type of creep, and there's no fixing them.

What troubles me is that when you see such glee in the destruction of mere things, cruelty towards animals and people is not far away.

came across the video by accident....

i was actually looking on youtube for a video of a maytag center-dial dryer's, end of cycle, chime so that i could hear what it sounded like.
i was wondering what kind of end of cycle signal, the DE308 dryer that i recently bought, has??

still looking....

for a video with the maytag dryer chime and i ran into another video from this same person, this time burning a maytag washer (i won't post that video).
these guys must have something against center-dial maytags??!!??
and again, they're laughing!!???
i just don't get it!! what the hell is so funny about damaging/destroying a vintage maytag???

:o/

YES!!!

i think that is the video i was looking for!!!
i knew there was a video i had seen of a maytag dryer at the end of the drying cycle with the "ding" bell chime at the end!!!

THANK YOU BRIAN!!!
for finding that video & posting it on here. i don't know why i couldn't find it!!!???!!!

thank you again brian.

:o)

My Moms dryer had that same end of cycle bell and her machine was like the one shown in the video.Actually think its older-hers may date back to the 60's.They moved to a Levitt home in 1968-She had a Maytag set she bought while living in a rented farmhome. When She bought the Levitt home in Upper Marlboro,Md it came with a GE Filter Flow pair with Mini Basket. The Maytags lived in their garage under a tarp-the washer was sold. The Maytag dryer moved with Mom thru Florida,Dallas,Tx and finally in LA Calif.Don't know what happened to it after she moved into an assisted living home. She had a Kn BD washer with Penta Swirl agitator.
Yes,the video of the Maytags being horribly destroyed is terrible.BUT---think of how many of these machines go thru junkyard shredders and compactors sight unseen-and how many may have been crunched in trash trucks after being set out on the curb in the days before scrappers driving around in beat up pickups to grab them before the trash truck got-em.At least with the scrappers truck they may have a chance of ending up in a swap shop to find another home.Often those places bought machine from the scrappers to resell.

It looks like this was filmed in Canada as the dryer has the CSA tag. What a shame... It made me mad when I saw what they did to the suds-saver switch. It looks like they did something similar to the Chrysler minivan in the background. I'm wondering if they have the same plans for the Thunderbird.

At least, there are people who care more. There was a HOH 406 dryer just like this one that was advertised at $30 for a while in Trois-Rivières QC and when I got my Harvest Gold 806, I called the owner to see if he still had this one as I wanted white panels for mine. When I called, his wife told me he was in the garage and had just began to dismantle it to send it to the scrapyard a few hours earlier... I explained her what I wanted and she said that the panels were probably fine... He called me back and offered them to me for free. When I arrived, I was quite surprised to see how carefully he dismantled everything. He gave me a lot of parts along with the panels. I told him that I would have needed to do just what he did and that saved me time so I insisted that he had the money for the dryer!

Everyone was happy!

And soon after, my harvest gold dryer was transformed in a white dryer to match with my washer!

Unfiortunatelty this, to me, ranks w/ cruelty, abuse and even KILLING of people and animals!

The same laws protecting other life forms definitely need to apply here (and for motor vehicles,--not involved in such natural causes, such as a crash--as well!)...

I came across a similar video once where the user decided to destroy a Hoover Dial-A-Matic vacuum.  Having owned two of these, I couldn't understand why anyone would want to destroy it, since it's an extremely well built vacuum.  I did take a little solace that in the 30 minutes it took him to destroy it, it didn't actually stop working.  What did it in ultimately was him setting it on fire or something to that tune (I blocked it out, honestly).  The vacuum itself took whatever the idiot threw at it and still kept going.

It's sad that there are people out there that find destruction like this amusing or funny.  Maybe I'm missing the joke or something, because it reads to me like these people need to get out more.  Just my two cents.
