My £5 bargain!

Hey all!

Well yesterday I was a lucky boy. I collected a Whirlpool AWE6517 H-Axis Top Loader for the Heafty sum of £5 that was sold as spares as it was noisy. I was going to use it to fix my older whirlpool that needs a new outer tub. However the noise that seller told me about was infact a razor blade stuck in the pump! Not entirely sure how that got there but I did collect it from Chesterfield!!!

So it works a treat. This is my first H-Axis Toploader (working) and even though you can't see anything I do like the experience of opening the hatch of the drum and dropping the clothes in and then filling the funky dispenser. It has some good programmes and options too.

I then had a shuffle in my wash house to accomodate it and pics of that included!

Hi Darren. Great pics. I nearly bought one of these last year, but the long programs put me off. A time saver button would have got me going to get it straight away. These are nice looking machines. I currently have a french Brandt top loader washer dryer. The only downside is that the programs are long, and for just a few towels it only knocks off about 10 minutes from 1:45. I still think its too long. It washes beautifully though, which is why i guess programs are so long on more economical machines now.
Ive had the Hoover 6kg 1400rpm and imho is the best top loader in the UK. The time saver on cottons and synthetics is brilliant. And the only top loader I know with 1400rpm. I am going to collect an older 1300rpm model next week as a spare. It is immaculate and want to get one before the disappear for good. We have no room here for a tumble dryer which is why we got the Brandt. Having said that, we have just discovered the beauty of drying laundry with a dehumidifier, so if the Brandt dies we will cope!

Ive not used a full cotton cycle yet, I used the daily quick which is an hour and gave good results.

It's just a shame it's only 1000rpm. I agree the Hoover machines offer a great selection of programmes and the 1400rpm spin would sell it to me too!

Oh how do you find the brant aside from the long cycles? Does it dry well? What spin speed is it? They're great when you're short on space.

The Brandt is a 1300 spin. Yes, dries well. The high heat is a bit vicious but I only use it to dry towels and iron dry jeans. I dry underwear and t shirts on half heat which is good. A 3kg load in about 145 which does seem long but they dont come out scorched and awfully creased! I also love the fluff filter, only machine ive heard of which has one.
Does the whirlpool have 1 or 3 paddles? Is it quite stable on spinning?

Sounds like a good all rounder. The only machine I know to have a fluff filter which is the new AEG Heatpump washer dryer so that's rather good!

The whirlpool has 3 paddles to my surprise!
