Hi norgeway

Thanks for that little bit of info. The heatminder is my favorite burner on the stove ! The speed heat is my second. I like that it heats up way faster than the rest. But I just doesn't seem to have the same power ? As the the standard 220/240 volt burner that was in the stove when I first bought it. Its ok to fry something small. But to get a pot of water boiling... I'd say the 118 volt just doesn't have the same amount of power. This something I've noticed on my mothers flair as well. And hers has the original speed heat burner and switch from when the stove bought by my grandmother brand new in 1960

HeatMinder was genius!

I had a Flair, honestly the best cooking stove I've ever used. Oven was amazing. I managed to rekit it out with all orig accessories from eBay. My favorite was the "kantslide" griddle on the heatminder burner. Much more fun and better results than an electric griddle. Get a copy of the owners manual and you'll see how incredibly advanced that stove is even 50 years later. Sadly, the house we bought uses gas, so Flair stayed, and even a Fabulous 400 wouldn't fit here without a hefty remodel. Though I'm not seeing those Tappans, or Flairs for that matter, come up as often anymore. Hang onto your Flair as long as you can, I miss mine!

Hi leefree
I was raised around the 30 inch single oven version of the flair I have now. I know all to well how great they can be. Took me years to find one of my own ... I do have the kantslide griddle. I use it at least once a week. I have the nonstick teflon coated version and love it ! And my mother has the plain aluminum version for her flair and uses it often . I can remember being at my grandmothers reading the manual to the stove my mom now has... I thought it was fun to read lol. I gained an interest in both vintage appliances as well as vintage electronics at a very young age and slowly built up A collection of different things over the years. The chances of me ever parting with my flair are slim to none. I hauled it the better part of 100 miles to my house and it was a bit of at challenging day to say the least lol
My one friend that helped me that day... has said to me more than once that I better love and take of that stove till the day I die ! Lol ! I've rewired it from top to bottom aside from the lights. Had the clock rebuilt twice sadly.... basically. You mite say I tore my flair down to it's nuts and bolts and rebuilt it. It's former owner didn't take very good care if it sadly . It's one of the few vintage items that I own that you could say has become a part of my life lol
