Cool Collection!
Hey Joe,
My Aunt bought that exact same hassock style GE fan sometime in the early 70's. She passed away and now that fan is at my Dad's house in the living room. He uses it all the time! The fact you can use it as a foot stool or a extra seat - when I was little I used to use it to sit on while conversing with the adults.
Now that Atlas Aire Box Fan looks something like my Dad's Hunter box fan. His is on a stand and one of the plastic caster wheels have broken off, but when I inherit this fan I'll be sure to replace both of them. Those metal blades, grills and just overall construction will outlast those cheap Lasko box fans by decades!
I noticed you have a DuKane machine. Tell me, is it the turntable or cassette version? You can tell I've been an A/V aide in my high school and we used both versions! Do you have any filmstrip/cassette or record programs that you can actually use for your DuKane? I have one - "tuffy tooth" that my Dad got when he was teaching grade school years ago. It came with some truly awful red chewable tablets that were supposed to tell you how bad you brushed your teeth! I think it was a ploy from the toothpaste company (forgot which one) to make kids brush longer. I did the test a few times and all I got was red teeth and a red tongue that seemed to take forever to go away!
We also have two Kirby Classic III vacuum cleaners. One is still in use to this day, the other works but one of the blade fins broke off due to picking up something other than regular dirt and now makes a high whining noise. We still have all the attachments including the shampooer, the floor waxer, and the box with all the hose attachments too! The Kirby Tradition model came out after the Classic III model. I sold Kirby's during the Summer of '79 to try to earn some extra money while in college. I was amazed that I sold three in one week then quit the job as I made enough in commission to last up until classes started in the fall. That was an experience!
Take Care,
Mike
