My find this weekend!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

that's a very cool Frigidaire...

I remember when Frigidaire came out with that Roller-Matic mechanism. They had this cool counter display of the unit professionally mounted so the customer could turn a crank on the back and see how it worked. The service people hated the Roller-Matic, but then they hated Pulse-Matic and anything that came after Unimatic. They refered to that motor as a "throw-away motor" since it could not be rebuilt at the motor shop. I'm not knocking your machine, it's very nice :-)

And Bob, if you do ever end up at the Betty Ford Clinic let me know. It's very close to my home and I'll stop by and say hi, although I don't think they allow visitors. It's behind the Eisenhower Medical Center and once I drove around there to snoop. They have a mile-high dense hedge with signs posted that say "ALL CAMERAS WILL BE CONFISCATED." I guess they don't realize how small they make cameras now huh?

No episiotomy!

My water broke today and was a big splash all over the driveway. Greg was there I kept screaming obscenities at him, and telling him I would get even with him for doing this to me. He just kept taking movies of the birth with the dam camcorder. He said he was going to post. So Greg where are they ?
Also is there a owners manual that someone might have for this machine? [this post was last edited: 3/24/2012-22:37]

Well, there was water, but it was all controlled!

The 79 Frigidaire 1-18 Holy Grail Washer is beautiful!!  We had no troubles at all, no leaks, runs or drips from the machine.  Once cleaned up, it should be ready for some regular service.  The washer is in beautiful condition, the tub sparkles and shines like new.  A few of the buttons are a bit loose on the controls, but we may be able to patch those up.  All the cycles, timer and options appear to work.

Draining went well:

Those who have had 1-18 Frigidaire washers will know this but Frigidaire recommended that for small loads, using the gentle speed for agitation. This machine does the thinking for you, any water level selected below "small" and it automatically switches agitation to low speed. Even more washday freedom from thinking - more time for Judge Judy!

Wow

Great videos and pictures of the new 1-18! What a nice machine, I especially like the video of the timer and speed control.

Thanks Greg !

Can't wait to clean it up and move it from the garage up to my laundry room to use as my daily driver.

Would you look at the rats nest hiding in that thing - holy cow! There must be a mile of copper wire just in the control panel. Thanks for the shots and video Greg!

Congrats again on such a cool find. Now you will smile each time you go to do laundry. Makes each day that much better!

I'm so glad to see this come to a completion and see the machine placed in a home where someone will appreciate it.  I was concerened it may go to the crusher.  The 1-18 is such a powerful machine!

Just Beautiful!

Thank you Greg for taking and sharing the videos.

I loved seeing the rapid advance timer do its thing as well as the water level control.

That machine sounds very healthy too so you should be able to enjoy it for many years.

Congrats on getting it Bob and thanks for sharing your find with all of us.
