My First Collectible Washer - Lady Kenmore

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Detergent Dispenser:

There is/was actually an insert to be able to use Liquid Detergent. I've got both a 1982 and a 1985 Model Lady-K Washers and Matching Dryers and they both have the insert.

I'm sorry, but I don't have Pix's available. My 1982 Model Set are Electronic Touch Controls and my 1985 Set are Mechanical Controls...

At this time, I'm not able to get to them, but someone else on the Site might be able to help you with a Pix and/or Part Number. You might also try to access the Part on Repair-Clinic as well.

Congrats on your Machines, too bad that the Maytag's Console is damaged/scratched and the 1-Button missing, maybe you can locate a replacement Button...

Peace, Great Laundry Days, Steve

Liquid Detergent Insert:

I just remembered that I happened to have the Owner's Manual of my 1985 Model Lady-K Washer & Dryer, so I can give you the Liquid Detergent Insert. It is: Part# 359269 and it is called the Liquid Detergent Cup Assembly {Serviced as a Complete Assembly}. Good luck with a search for this item, please be sure to let us know if/where you locate one of these.

Peace and Great Laundry Times, Steve

Great finds you have. The Kenmore is the same as the one I'm getting. Mine doesn't have the liquid detergent insert either. These pushbutton Kenmore's seem to be popping up everywhere lately.

Mine might need a water pump. The guy I bought it from said it didn't drain well. Maybe I will get lucky and it will turn out to be a clogged hose.

congrats!!!

love the pics!!!

thank God for people like us and thank God for Craigs List!
otherwise these old treasures would end up in the scrap heap!
and 30 bucks! can't beat it with a stick!

Tops

Check ebay, a couple weeks ago i posted a therad with a NOS whirlpool pump, Im not sure if its a correct fit I will try to find it again and post the link.

Actually, you're on the right track Kenny/Kenmore81, but that's not the right pump. There are four belt-drive pumps, 285317 in the ebay auction is for later machines with either manual filters or the basket mounted self-cleaners.

The proper pump for all that era Lady Ks that had the detergent dispensers is 350367.

I would exercise caution before I buy a pump however and determine if the lint filter is clogging. That is was common with this sort of filter.

TopLoader - That looks like a washer we discussed here a few weeks back. Was it in Iowa or Indiana? We discussed how you can remove the iron deposits from the porcelain tub.

I am not sure where the lint filter is. I cannot find an obvious place where it would be.

The Maytag is an A510. I think I have a button somewhere for it but thank you for the offer.

Congratulations on your first classic! A Kenmore, and a Maytag are both great washers to start a collections with. Sturdy machines, and many parts are still available if you look for them in the right places. Beautiful machines, and they both look to be very well cared for!

Sales literature for this machine

I have the original sales literature for this exact model. I had this machine demonstrated to me but wasn't in a postion to buy it, I still wanted the literature so I told the salesman at Sears I would come back & buy it so that he would give it to me. If anyone wants me to xerox it I would love to be of some help. To answer another member's question, this model (1974) was way past the days of interior lights on Lady Kenmore. My parents replaced their WI-56 Frigidaire with a 1964 turquoise Lady Kenmore ,it had the interior light where the germicidal bulb should have been (used to be) I wish I could have saved it. It had 3 speeds, a filter indicator light, SUPER ROTO- SWIRL agitator with rubber (gray) scrubber. 21st century machines do not have control panel lights- who says that washers get better decade after decade when this proves that they actually LOSE FEATURES rather than improve. Contact me if you want the literature. 773-283-8456. P.S I didn't have a place back in '74 to install the machine being discussed in this thread. That is why I could not buy it.

Thanks for the congrats all!

KenmoreGuy64: Thanks for the info. This came from a suburb outside of St. Louis. I have been trying to dig for that thread regarding getting the iron coating off the porcelain but I cannot find it.

DADoES: Thanks for the diagram and link.

beevac: Sent you an e-mail.

Does anyone know an easy way to remove the iron deposits from the wash tub? I assume it is suppose to be white right?

Whats that stuff again??? Lime/rust remover... CRL something??

It works great, but you need a lot of elbow grease with it...
