Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

1975 Model Year

After comparing details from my 72, 74, and 76 Tech-Talk manuals I am pretty sure your model WC is a 1975 model. It is comparable in every detail to the 1976 WC-6 (which is a Crown model) except the WC control panel has a black background as opposed to the WC-6 having a chrome one against a teak wood applique. The only other difference is the WC-6 has the glass window in the lid and the WC doesn't. Mechanically they should be the same (cycles, speeds, options). Go to the link below and then type in WC-6 (include the dash) in the Model Number box. Then click on the blue numbers under WC-6 and it will open a .pdf document. This is the only model I can find online that would give you Use and Care Instructions that would apply to your machine.

Hope you find this useful. Have fun!

Here's a picture of a set that got away. I hope they found a good home.

You are fantastic!!

Patrick, I went to the Frigidaire site earlier today in the vain hopes that I could find a manual for my WC...but since it wants 3 digits minimum, WC-6, as you said, did the trick! Thank you SO much--the manual is very informative :-)

Thank you again for all your help!

kenmore1978, I wondered the exact same thing :-P

(Or the elusive bleach and dye dispenser...)

...I'm such a slave to automatic dispensers :-P

According to the manual Patrick pointed out, a fabric softener dispenser can be had for an extra charge from your Frigidaire dealer. Hey, they had the manual--maybe I should ask for a dispenser? LOL

WCI Monster

As much as we malign WCI, have to give them credit for actually making the effort to put those old manuals for stuff that was vefore their time in PDF format. A lot of companies would've just thrown it out, or only done products made after they took over.

Roto, I don't know how I missed this thread up to now. Congratulations on a truly wonderful machine. I will email you.

Jaune, I have a 1-18 fabric softener dispenser, new in the box.

Yes, Kenmore 1978 has a Kenmore (how ironic is that!) so he doesn't need a fs dispenser. I just thought I'd mention I had one, since he brought it up. (LOL)

FS dispenser

As a matter o fact, I have an agitator mount FS dispenser that ame with the replacement DA agitator, but since my machine has a Triple Dispenser, it wasn't needed. Anyone who wants it can have it, no charge except postage.

1975 Model Year

I am so surprised that WCI still has this information on the website after all these years.
Well anyway it is good information to know!

1-18 info

Greetings, regarding the age of the machine...I recently got a 1-18 w/d from a co-worker. They were in her home she just purchased.

The manuals were with the machines, the washer was bought in June of 1977 and the dryer in '78.

I used the washer for the 1st time today, what a blast, ya know, JET ACTION, blast, soorrrry!!
Anyhow, if you wish, I could copy the user manual for your reading pleasure, has some kewl photos!!!

Lemme know ... Al :D

Hi, Al!

Thanks very much for the manual offer--e-mail me sometime--I'd like to see a better facsimile of one of the originals than what Frigidaire currently has on their site (DON'T get me wrong, I'm VERY, VERY grateful to them for archiving information online for machines that they didn't even produce in their current incarnation, but it's a funky photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy, if you know what I mean).

Thanks very much, and take good care! :-D

Congratulations Nate

The 1-18 is a great machine. I bought one new (poppy red) in 1975, it was the same model as the same machine you now have. In fact, thanks to GregM, I now have another 1/18, this time in white. Thanks also to Coldspot66 for a copy of the repair manual! I still love using it, leaks a slight bit, have to check that out. Nate, it looks like from your photos that you have the bleach dispenser, is that true? I'm still looking for the bleach and fabric softener dispensers, as well as the circle fill tubing. If anyone has ideas, please let me know.

Rich

Hi Rich!

Yes, huge thanks also go out to Coldspot66 for the repair manual (the check for postage and such is wandering out today)--it's AMAZING, and emphasizes Frigidaire's unusual and innovative mechanisms.

I only have the standard detergent dispenser in my 1-18; I'm working on that :-) Insofar as other parts go, I'm currently at a loss; I'll have to see if another one shows up around here :-)

Enjoy your poppy (yes, mine occasionally leaks a little bit in weird places, but sometimes it doesn't--I think that's part of the charm), and I'll be looking forward to chatting with ya in the future! :-D

Hi Nate!

Nate:

Congrats on such a great find and I saw you just picked up a Maytag center dial (one of my favorite designs).

We used to be a Frigidaire family (Dad worked for GM). We had replaced our old Fridaire with an 1-18 when I was in 3rd grade. I remember my excitement with the first load seeing the ring of water when it first filled. My mom used the softner dispenser quite a bit but after that became to loose and did not stay attached she just left the regular cap off as well. Whenever I had the chance to help with laundry I would put it back on, but it seemed to come right back off when I wasn't looking. I have no idea why she didn't like it.

Congrats once again and I can't wait to see pictures of your new find!
