My first one... Maybe!

I mentioned a while back that I had a lead on a Maytag wringer that had been in a customer's family since new and made it's way over here to Nevada from back East. He said to make an offer but wasn't out to gouge anyone. Well, I finally was able to get close enough to get some pictures although it's in a very cluttered barn. I'm hoping for some help with what is a reasonable offer. He says he'd plugged it in a while ago and it ran but it was not wet tested. It may have not seen water in quite a while. It has the books. Geoff (and others), is this a diamond in the rough or run away?

Money shot. The metal seems to be dusty but in very shiny condition. No dings or dents that I can see although the light in the barn was less than desired...

The front side. I had to do a 'reach around' to get the picture. (Did I say it was buried?) Overall the cabinette seemed in good shape with no obvious dents, chips or rust...

The books. This is a E2L Serial#G110759T and she was purchased Nov. 6th, 1957. Sooooo, that do you advise? She'd be my first and I think Geoff wondered how I could be a Maytagman with out at least one?

Wow RCD - that E2 looks great! The top looks to be in great shape, as well as the tub. Nice to see that they set the rollers in storage position. It has a pump, which is nice to have, and is in overall clean shape as you can tell someone took care of it.

I'd say 50 bucks would be a good price to start the conversation with, IMHO.

WOW!!!

That E2 is in fantastic condition! It's rare to find virtually ANY wringer that doesn't have at least a little bit of rust in the upper porcelain cabinet. If you're are looking for a wringer, this is definitely the one to buy!

I have an E2L from 9/82 in my basement as we speak, and let me tell you that this machine is a must have. $50 is a very reasonable price, and I think it will clean up very well. Go for it!!!

Drew ... WOW ... go for it!! That's a beauty!! That machine looks like it was well cared for. I don't know what it looks like underneath, but it can't be anything that you can't fix.

That machine will clean up beautifully!! It looks mostly like dust and dirt. I love the decals; what a graceful era that was.

Oh boy ... a PUMP!! That is a really nice feature. The agitator looks like it is in really good condition, too.

That machine was made in October 1957 and was purchased almost right after it was made. They sure sold the heck out of those, didn't they?

So when do you get it?

Now that I have a reasonable starting point on a offer to make, negotiations will begin. I really do like this customer and don't want to needlessly offend him. He's a lifelong retired Highway Patrol and just about as text book old school Nevadan as you can get. The washer is stored in a dry, enclosed 'barn' so I'm not too worried on rust/moisture damage. Hopefully, I'll be able to get her and post better pics for 'Uncle Geoff' ;-) ...

I think the clean up will be the most fun; nothing like discovering a treasure under all that dirt and dust.

Awsome machine Drew. Wife and I used to have a N2LP round wringer. We loved it and enjoyed using it. Sold it when we moved to oregon. I kept the book which is like the one in your picture. I do wish now we still had the machine. We would take it to the kitchen and run whites, sheets and then towels thru it and then hang them out on the line. All in about 45 minutes. What a blast. My wife had a good time running it. I may contact you. Looking over my A806 machine I will be needing a new or USED drain hose and what ever I might find needs to be replaced. Good luck with the wringer machine. I remember so many people still using them when I was a kid and the smell of bleach and detergent. A nice childhood reminder. See ya Dan
