there is a hole in the back where the cooling fins are

Should i cover this hole with tape

Hole in the evaporator cover

This was an inspection port to look at the evaporator and take temperature readings. There was a plastic plug over it when it was made it won’t matter whether you cover it up or not it won’t affect the performance of the refrigerator to leave it open like this, just don’t stick your fingers in there and cut your fingers on the sharp aluminum fins.
