My new Creda Compact 3 tumble dryer from April 1978

Hello everyone on AW!! Thought I'd share my latest acquisition on here with you guys. This is a April 1978 Creda compact 3 tumble dryer I collected yesterday in the United Kingdom to use in my bedroom! as you can see in the pictures the outside looks in a right state, might need a respray, but amazingly it still runs VERY Smoothly and quiet for it's old age of 41 years!! Do happy to finally own one of these TRUE Creda dryers!!

How does the timer work?

Is the timer clockwork?

I ask because it looks like a later model of our family's first dryer, bought around 1970, and that had a clockwork timer. Quite a nuisance if you dialled past where you wanted to be (say, 45 minutes when you wanted 30), as it didn't like being wound down towards zero.

In Australia it was marketed as "New World". There were also New World dishwashers, however I don't recall what other appliances there may have been under that brand. Anyone know/remember?

New World had stoves too - I can only remember gas, don't know if they had electric too?
New World dishwashers in AU were Asea in disguise. They had a very good reputation.

we had a New World dryer - it replaced the Astor. Actually 2 - a tiny one like the one in this thread, after I moved out I got the larger version for my parents. Scrounged / repaired of course. The instructions actually said you should wind the timer to the longest setting, then turn the dial back to your preferred setting. This gave more tension on the clockwork spring, so the timing was more accurate. If you only turned it to the desired time, it was erratic if it would tick tock its way back to zero, or get stuck in the last few minutes.

the instruction book said it was made by Jackson Industries, can anyone tell me anything about them?

I don't know much about Jackson myself but one thing I definitely know about them is that they were a brand owned by Creda before Creda were brought by Hotpoint. There were a few Jackson machines around as rebadged Creda machines and later rebadged Hotpoint 95 series. That's as much as I know about Jackson
