My "new" daily driver DW coming soon

I will be picking up an early 2000's WP Gold DW.  It is one of the last PC machines before the tall tubs came out.   I will be using it to replace a POS Hotpoint in Katie and my home that she put in before I knew her. 

 

This came to be after the HP almost burned us out of our home 2 nights ago.   I started the DW @ 2130 Thursday and went to bed, @ 0300 Friday I woke up and could hear it still running!  That PIECE OF SHIT was stuck in the HEATING PHASE of the main wash.  The room was getting warm and the countertop above the machine was hot. When I temped the machine with my digital thermometer it read 90-92C.  I manually advanced the timer and it proceeded through it's rinses and shut off.   That piece of cheap garbage could have killed us both in a fire. 

 

I knew GE built DWs had a history of burning up,  but not from a jammed timer and faulty hi-limit at the same time.  This clunker is going to the recycle bin and I'm putting in a REAL DW.

Congrats!  I have a Kenmore machine from 2002 that I think the world of.  There are few things that will escape this machine on the pots and pans cycle!

Especially if you don't run the hot water at the sink before turning it on for Pots & Pans.  That thermostatically temp held pre-wash will run for 45 minutes or more before it hits 140 degrees.  The chrome will shine from the trailer hitch put in there for that cycle lol.

I love..

The Silverware Basket. It's so nice having your Silverware in the door, getting good spray from the Top Rack wash arm, and freeing up room to the Side Walls, for your Pryex Pans.

And Forget the "Pots and Pans" cycle, she'll get everything extremely clean, on Normal Wash with the Water heated. Phosphate Detergent of course, for Extra Shine

water.  Well, if one truly does "BobLoad" encrusted soil that has sat since the stone age, then it's worth its weight in gold.  As someone recently said to me "you really like to make your dishwasher work for you"--that man knows me well.

With the silverware basket in the door just make sure you load plates in the front. I used to load my dinner plates from side to side in the front so the basket gets plenty of water from the bottom arm. The middle does help wash downward. If you have a double sink I used to stand the basket up in one of the sink bowls diagonally from corner to corner, makes it so much easier to load. If you can take the covers off the basket it will hold more. Just remember to mix your silverware and you should get fantastic results. For a good, well performing dishwasher...this one can't be beat in this price range.
