Just picked this up today. Can anyone tell me what year this dryer is? This is the first GE I have ever seen with a timer similar to the Norge time line.

That is a beautiful dryer. Could you give us a close up shot of the control panel? Where did you find this beauty? I know you are going to have fun using it. Terry

Thanks for the info appnut!

Yes Terry I will try to get some better pics up real soon. I don't have a dig camera yet and I just passed along a pic the seller had. The bottom half of the control panel is back lit with a florescent and the timer has a red line that goes across like the late 60s Lincoln speedometer. This one came from a guy in Orient OH.

Thirtyater, that is just a stunning stunning dryer! It is something to be proud to own. Many years ago I had the matching washer in white but sold it, sure wish I would have kept it. Oh well, who knew? Lets all keep on the look out for a matching washer for you to make it a set!

Yes FilterFlo it does have the push button air freshener. Do you know how it works? I just unloaded it last night and haven't had time to investigate it yet but did notice that it had that feature.

The air freshner was a pressurized little bullet type of cartridge that had a slight fabric softener type of frangrance to it. When you started the dryer you could push the button a couple of times and it would release a scent of air freshner into the drum and into the clothes as they tumbled. My 1956 GE electric dryer has a similar feature, but its located at the bottom of the machine near the foot pedal. My cartridge has lost its pressure and scent long ago, but is still intact and interesting to see...........

Very interesting FilterFlo. My 1957 GE has a little pan on the control panel you pour air freshner into but this 63 or 64 has the bullet on the control like your 56. I really must get some pics up of that.

GE Air Freshener

That absolutely beautiful fragrance is now available in a perfume at Victoria's Secret. Its name is Angel or Heavenly or something. A lady in our office wears it and I have to get some for my dryers. I figure a spritz during the cool down will give me an olfactory transport back in time. "To hell with your madeleines, Marcel!"

Fantastic

What a find...definatley a rare find thanks for posting pics of it...wouldnt mind seeing more

It may take a few days but I will borrow a digital camera from a buddy and get some better pics to post. If you like GEs as I do I think this is quite interesting and I want to share some better pics with you all! Can't wait until someone can hook me up with the matching dryer. ;)
