Hiya Everyone

My brand new Miele W4144WPS just arrived!!!!! YAY

I'm gonna install it shortly, but heres a few pics!
I cant wait to get it going. Ive already plugged it in and played around with the settings, lol!

I love the smell of new machines, wish they smelled that way all the time!!!

Anyway, speak soon!
Adam

p.s. suppose i better change my username, lol

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

You'll love it! I know you will :-D.

Louis - all appliances in the UK come with moulded plugs and have done for years now - as there were just too many accidents with have-a-go DIYers wiring up their own plugs incorrectly!

I'm Back

I've done two loads now, a whites and a coloureds… and its really great!!!

I can't believe how silent it is, even when it’s spinning. The cottons wash rhythm is really cool, I’ve made a video, i'll post it soon!!!!

I'm defiantly impressed and my mum is too, lol bless! I'll be teaching her how to use it tomorrow.

Although the only problem is that it’s slightly deeper than the Hoover, so it doesn’t fit into the cabinet space. However this is only because the tumble dryer venting tube runs along behind the Miele (before going through the wall and outside.) So my dads going to have to move the vent tube so it doesn’t go behind the washing machine anymore, then we can push the machine all the way back against the wall.

hi there l86810

that really is a fantastic looking machine, I hope you absolutely love it. If you don't, remember I'm only just up the road in Chelmsford and would be prepared to remove it for you, I'll only charge for my petrol and time - there would be no disconnection fee.

And if you long for a Hoover once more, I can also put a 1200 Special Edition back in for you for no charge.

Call me soft....
(Actually I think you'll call me plenty of things)

;-)

Hi Adam!

Was great to talk to you on the phone lastnight! I'm glad to hear that you're pleased with it; my mum really likes hers too and we all know how much I like mine :-). The silence is definitely freaky; my mum's is different from mine as hers has an induction motor instead and the motor noise on hers is not audible at all - you just hear the tub spinning whereas on mine you do hear a faint motor noise.

I think you can solve the venting tube issue by purchasing a matching Miele tumble dryer... though you'll be one step ahead of me then, I'm still waiting to get mine LOL.

Enjoy your new machine!

And be sure to send off for the free 10 year guarantee!

hi all

John and Adam,
congradulations for ur new machine. Very nice machine.
i have a miele navitronic 1800 rpm and i want to ask you if ur machines have hydraulic suspension. Mine has and while there is no motor moise if there is some inbalance you can hear the liquid int suspension system moving about. I called Miele service they checked the machine and didnt find anything wrong.
Machine is stable and vibration free 2 years now. My mum however has bought a couple of mos the W3629 to replace her 20 year old Miele. Ithink its the same as Johns mum have but has a slant fascia. Anyway this machine has softer suspension than mine, (1600rpm) no motor noise but has a more sensitive inbalance recognition. However there is no liquid noise from suspension however it vibrates a bit more than navitronic.

waiting for ur reply.

Both mine and my mum's have hydraulic suspension... all Miele machines do I think. You can hear it moving sometimes but that's only because the machine is so quiet that you can hear the suspension... both mine and my mums are still as a rock and don't vibrate even though mine's on an upstairs floor. The balance sensors aren't that sensitive on either of them too - mine spun a pretty unbalanced load of jeans the other day and whilst the drum was moving about quite a bit inside the actual machine was still.

Hiya

Thanks for the offer nick... I’ll keep it in mind, lol

However I do have a Hoover SIX (AL120) still in working order, which I'm selling... if you'd like to come and collect that? Or anyone else?

Jon + Miele2888: Yer I think mine has hydraulic suspension, its spun a bit imbalanced a few times, hehe, but I’m going to check the feet on the machine coz the whole machine keeps shaking. And its a really tight squeeze in the cupboard its in, so when ever it shakes it touches the sides of the cupboards, which makes it sound really loud!

Moulded/fitted plugs

Were actually a compromise- the interfering EU Tw@ts wanted us to adopt the European plug/socket system in place of our(far superior IMHO) ring main system. They backed off as long as we adopted fitted plugs :)

Individual Fuses...

Thats the reason ring mains are safer- also we only have one standard plug that you put different ratings of fuse in so a lamp has a 3a fuse and dosent rely on the 16??a circuit breaker. Another big plus is the plug can only fit the socket one way- therefore the appliance can have a single pole switch with the guarantee it will always be on the live side of the supply!

I think you are confusing a few things. A ring mains is less safe than a "normal" sytem used on the continent and in other countries. Using plugs with separate fuses on the continent would it make our system even safer than it is now. The fact that you use plugs with separate fuses in them doesn't mean that the ring system is safer. Ask any electrician (Toggle?).
