Hi Jon.

Only done a couple of loads with the machine. Up to now I am happy with the machine. I never use my machine on a fast spin as I have a seperate spin dryer and I think it saves wear and tear on machine. The spin speed is 1800rpm.

I was shocked how cheap the machine was from appliancecity. Noticed one on ebay for over £900.

Will let you know what I think at a later time

Lovely washer there, I'm surprised it was brought 4 £449, sounds like u've got a great bargain.

I like the Asko design, looks very Scandinavian, my fav feature of these is the 7 rinses option lol.

Hi Guys.

Well my machine is 1 week old today so thought I would share my experience with the machine.

The machine was delivered on a pallet and was very secure. It must of taken me 30 mins to unpack the machine. There was also a protctive sleeve around the front which peeled off in one piece.

I tried it out with a load of towells. The machine was times are not to long on certain programmes. The wash action is fantastic. On most programmes it has 3 rinses, but you can extend the rinses to 7. Also it does not take ages to go into a spin, unlike the LG machine I once had.

The only downfall is the display is a little bit on the small side. The instuctions does not say how many rinses the super rinse does. How I found out is there is a button on the front which says 7.

For the money is a very well built machine. The outer drum is stainless steel and they don,t have a door boot unlike frontloaders.

I think its worth £449 and did think it was a mistake at first.

That's a very handsome washer. Still seems strange to see the Maytag name on these.

I've always liked the drum behind the front panel, the Asko I had was a little louder in spin but the lack of boot was brilliant.

Maytag Asko

Maytag UK are a stand alone operation from Maytag USA, and while they badges many appliances, laundry from Asko, cookers from Rangemaster etc they sell very well here, but as a niche product usually only from independant kitchen designers / retailers etc.

I think these are now on closeout, with Gorenje now owning Asko and Whirlpool now owining Maytag USA I bet Maytag UK wont be getting any more badges Asko machines,

I wonder if Gorenje will now launch Asko laundry back into the UK?

Paul, me & Jon thought it was a mistake and advised him to "Press The Button" and see if he could get it for that price....glad you are enjoying the washer!!

What do you think of the dispenser?

I think the dispenser is on the small size. It doesnt seem to hold a lot for powder. Mind you I am always using to much powder, lol. I have been using Persil small and mighty as love the smell.

paul do you want to swap washing machines lol just kidding, i love your new washer, very sleek looking but robust, i wish i had waited and go one of those but at the time i brought my samsung the prices of theses machines where high and also i need the extra capacity, i believe the prices has been reduced due to the new maytag (asko) models are coming out next year thoses new ones are gonna cost ££££

Asko Is Lone Amoung Residential Front Loaders

IIRC that uses the design common to commercial H-Axis washers where the seal is attached to the door and not the cabinet as is common with front loader that have the rubber bellows type.

If you examine SQ and other laundromat washers you will see the same design and it makes a world of sense on many levels.

For one thing it elminates the pool of water which sits in cabinet mounted rubber boots until the machine's next use or it dries. Water and whatever residue in/on the boot is the main cause of mould growth and or odors in front loaders.

On the downside door mounted seals can often not be as tight as cabinet versions which means small objects can during the wash get down between the tubs. It is advised such items be placed in mesh bags and closed before washing.

The other problem is door mounted units can leak, especially if there is too much froth. Have watched the SQ washers at local laundromat weep suds water when they went into spin with too much suds in the tub. Also if the door hinges are weak/not aligned and the thing does not seal properly, again the machine can leak.

In 20 years of using an ASEA machine with a cabinet, rather than door, mounted 'strip' seal, not once did it ever leak.

Am going to assume you take far better care of your front loaders and use them properly. This in contrast to what almost falls under abuse for many laundromat washers in our area.

Since the units are SS you can clearly see down the fronts under the door where leads have occured. When the machines were new the attendant used to spend hours polishing the washers with all manner and sorts of special chemicals. They got tired of that soon enough and now the tops only are wiped down before closing.

I'd suggest that is definitely the case.

After owning a variety of Australian, Italian and German made machines and living with my parents (Swedish ASEA), I can honestly say that I have only ever had to replace one door boot and minor drawer leak on a 10 year old Hoover (Australian made), one suspension leg on an Italian made machine and my mother had to replace one hose and fix the door interlock.

Not bad when you think the collective ages of all those machines is 41 years.
