Hi all,

So my partner and I bought our first house and we have lots of space for my hobby! I've bagged the summerhouse at the bottom of the garden which convieniently is next to a sewage drain and has electricity already. In the next week or too I plan to put cold water plumbing and drainage in. My bosch logixx and hotpoint supermatic twintub went in there today and I'm in agony from lifting it down all the steps of our bungalow (we're on a hill!)

I am going to personalise it with sinage, possibly paint and a sofa!

You're so lucky! Congrats!! My dream is to have one, but there isn't much room in my garden for one!

What other machines are you planning to get? And also, what do you think of the Ariel Antibacterial Powder? Thanks
 
Congraulations on y'all's first home purchase!!!  I think it looks very nice.  I like the appearance of the wood inside.   Very much!!! 
 
Thanks. Do you think it's worth it over the standard bio?

Love my ariel bio and colour powder! Only thing is that the 22 wash boxes are now awful pour ones which are a pain! Will go for the larger boxes of bio when I need some soon.
 
Looking good! Is there any heating (like a greenhouse heater or something) in the summerhouse? Wouldn't want your stash of detergent getting damp... :)
 
Boschexcel: I think it's great! I like it especially as I've got a partner who works in a hospital & 2 young sons who get covered in all sorts of mess!

Dascot: not yet but I think it would be a good idea. I plan to crack the window when I'm in there and get and have a heater and a sofa!

Sheds galore

Congratulations on the move Darren, I hope you will be very happy there.

Something that might help get the machines up and running is shown below (dunno why the picture is on its side), and if you can hold on for a month or so I might have one you can have - in fact it might even be this one in the picture. If you have an outside tap it makes a simple and economical way to make the connection for several machines.

I will see if I can track down a picture of my water collection system which can then easily be run over to the drain as and when you need it.

Drainage

And thanks to the WONDERFUL SUPERSEARCHALATOR (its worth the upgrade just for that) here it is.

This can be replicated with a low cost waste bin, a right hand bend for a cold water storage tank (easily obtained from B&Q, Wickes etc.) a jubilee clip and a washer drain hose. And maybe a brick to stop the bin tipping over when full of water

Sanctuary

Well done on getting your home and and of course a sort of second home for your machines. Having had a garage it was sanctuary to me, I loved it.

You have plenty of room for whatever ;-).......I would think about some sort of heating in there, in the winter I would empty the sumps on my machines and cover them, also if they are not to be used for a while remove the drive belts to avoid kinks forming in them.

It is so nice to see to see this happening for you.

I do miss my garage even though it had a tenant :-)

Hey guys,

Al: great idea you did there! The long term plan is to get a copper pipe with several taps branching off like Rob and Paul's set up as well as several standpipes which will lead to the sewer next to my shed. It already had electricity it just needs a light and a sofa!

I've inherited a free bosch from a family friend which needs new brushes so I'm slowly building up the collection!

Gary: Thank you for the advice :-) I plan to use them all through the winter. When I've paid my bills I'll get a heater of sorts to take off the chill. Hopefully the hot washes will create some heat lol

Floors

Hello Darren

I am not a structural engineer but how firm/strong is the floor, I wonder because the loads placed on it from a washing machine spinning might be too great.
I think I would look to putting flooring grade chip board etc, to help spread the load. This came about because our kitchen floor is springy and uneven in two directions and it took some fiddling to get a machine to spin steady on it.
