Given all that i have been through in the past few days, i need some time to be away from everything and regroup. SO i am thinking of travling around some parts of the US... Including out west.. If i did so, i would probably stay long enough to DRIVE to Tucson not fly..

HAs any one done this in recent years???

Money will be tight, but i do have a car thats great on gas...

Ideas and thoughts will help. Chad

We have driven from West Texas to Indiana and West Texas to Ohio and back, about 1000-1200 miles each way....am not sure where you are coming from but we needed about 6-8 total days of driving and about $1500-2000 to do these trips, including lodging, food, gas and entertainment.

Personally I always like to take my time while driving and see all the sights and don't like night driving so I don't plan on making more than 7 hours of progress driving a day...stayed in historic old hotels/bed and breakfasts at about $80-100/night.

Personally if you are tight on money I don't know a long distance trip is feasible if you want to enjoy it...you need to at least calculate how much it will cost in gas first of all.
