My ex called last night and said my old Frigidaire was not cooling correctly. I just loved that Frigidaire. So much chrome! It was a bottom freezer. It matched my Frigidaire Custom Imperial stove. I left them at the old house. The stove is still working perfecly. It has the heat minder and speed heat unit and lots of chrome and lights on the high backsplash. I bought them at the very end of the real Frigidaire. We went to Lowes and picked out a new Frigidaire today. They will deliver the new one and pick up the old girl. I am afraid if I was still there I would have had the repairman out! I just hate to see the grand old appliances go!

Not cooling correctly?

I bought a GM Frigidaire SxS refrigerator years ago from someone who said "It works but it won't make ice anyomore". I knew right away that it must be something simple so I took it off their hands for $50. It just needed the coils vacuumed out underneath and everything was back to normal.

If the unit hasn't been taken away yet you might have your ex double check that this was not the problem. That would be sad to have it go to the crusher when it may be nothing serious. Also sometimes it's just the 'cold control' inside and they make a generic replacement for those as well.

Here's a pic of the refrigerator I have still running today - vintage 1976. Best of Luck.

My old Frigidaire dies

Patrick,
Thanks for the picture. Mine had handles just like yours except it was a bottom freezr. To late . They brought the new one yesterday and took mine. I felt it could have been fixed because it was still working, just not cooling like it should be. Everybody today wants "new". I wonder if the new Frigidaires will be working in 20 or 30 years!
