I see I clearly wasn't the only person who used to go wandering around the electrical appliances department in Allders in Croydon :-)

Thanks again

Thanks again for your comment. Thanks for your pics Richard and Seamus, it's always good to see who you are talking to.

Darren - My friend from school had that Electrolux. Inside it was identical to a Zanussi. Sounded and washed the same. It had a very quiet induction motor the only problem was it did rattle a bit on spin, the stability could have been better. I loved the look though.

Washboy - Those late 80's Indesits were good basic machines for the price. Shrieked a bit on spin but had large drums and were easy to use.

Dascot - So you used to live in Croydon? (South London suburb to those of you who may not know). It does have a good washer dept still fortunately. Your comment has given me an idea for a thread.

Thanks all

Rob

Hi Rob,

I grew up not far from Croydon, and it was a good place to go shopping. I used to prefer Croydon to Crawley anyway.

Apparently, though I don't remember this as I was pretty small at the time, I once went shopping with parents and grandparents and they made the mistake of taking me through the electrical department in Allders. They had a working display and I sat on the floor and refused to go with them. Think it gave my gran an excuse for a sit down and rest, and my parents an excuse to go running off shopping without me tagging along :-)

My msn address is in my profile if anyone wants to chat sometime :)

Dave
