hi you lot, the servis is now safe in the house, it is in very good condition but there are a few problems
1) the plug has been taken off
2) the doorseal needs replacing
3) one of the drum paddles are missing, if anyone can find one anywhere id be greatful
ill be ordering a new seal next week along and ill fit a new plug and start having a bit of fun with it. pictures are on the way :)

Lovely machine....

Just be sure to check the electricals out before connecting to the power - there could be a very valid reason why the plug was taken off....and the last thing we want to find out is that you made a shocking discovery...

update

ok, the machine now has a plug on, ive briefly tried a spin, not a full spin though, sounds excellent, now all i need is a doorseal which i should be ordering this weekend and a paddle which i am trying to sort, should be usable by xmas at the latest, the machine is alot quieter than i first thought as i was thinking it would be almost as load as the hotpoint but its nowhere near as loud, even with the lid off and in a very echoey hallway.

spin speeds

i noticed matchbox paul said something about the spin speed being 850/460
i was looking in my servis 310 manual last night to get an idea of what the machine will do and noticed the 310 has 3 spin speeds not including drip dry, those being 1000/600/460, 600 being interm spins and 460 being wollen spin, im just wondering if the 308s will have a 3rd speed being that 600rpm interm spin?

Servis Slimline

Great find Phil, they are a perfect sturdy mechanical washer, seperate base to which the struts are attached, you can remove the cabinet and the drum stands on its rigid base, the vitreous inner & outer tubs are perfectly balanced and help OOB situations, my Mum had the 308 as her first auto and it served six of us well until the arrival of the Quartz 6033 ...

The spin speeds are 850 / 460 and drip dry...I love the ratchet sound of the timer which has a long arm with the timer at the back as we can see...Door Boots and motors are around to be found, the drum baffle is a problem , you will have to find a scrap machine, this was about the only week spot on these machines, if the screw bolt failed you lost the paddle - the issue is you have to take the drum apart to bolt it back on from the underside of the inner tub, I would advise not using it until sorted as it will / can cause uneven drum movements, all these drums try to balance the clothes (especially on spin) by distributing clothes into the three segments made by the baffles, if one is missing it bunches the clothes up!!

It looks in great shape and very clean, look after it and it will give you years of Servis Service..

spin

ive tried a full spin now and all seems well, distributes normal, 460rpm sounds a bit 'chuggy' but that goes once the machine clicks for 850, wasnt expecting it to have a still drain at the end of the spin though. I LOVE IT!
