This one went with the Model 63 - early fifties. About the only thing it could do was dust. Successor to the Dustette.

I mentioned on the other vac thread going here about how quiet the Connies are... as you guys have so many different machines which of all the Hoovers is the quietest do you think is your quietest canister and your quietest upright

Hoovers Quiet????

I might use that term with the Electroluxes - especially the XXX and G but never with a Hoover. Anything that "Beats as it sweeps as it cleans" is not quiet. I agree that the Connies are the most quiet of the Hoovers probably because the exhaust goes straight down under the cowl. I really am not a fan of the current Hoovers so couldn't tell you if they have gotten quiet. The Celebrity line had a QS or quiet series. The uprights just plan make noise.

Hoovers were never quiet to me (starting when I was little), but that wasn't a problem because I LOVED the roaring "WOOOOOOOOO" sound the canisters made. What's funny is that while my (maternal) grandmother's Avocado Celebrity sounded like that, my Celebrity III sounded much different; it had a high-pitched whine similar to a compact canister. As for the machines I have now, the Dial-A-Matic and Junior are considerably loud, even though my Junior doesn't have the "infamous" bearing problem. The Convertible purrs nicely, even with the thumping of the beaters, and the Quik-Broom is quiet on both speeds. Fred, I was really surprised at how quiet and smooth-running your Model 29 was at the Convention.

And the modern (aka Plastic) Hoovers...nearly all of the uprights make noise; I wouldn't know how loud the canisters are.

And from what you said about the early Pixie (which I see more often on eBay), were Dustettes still being produced at that time?

Pixie matching...

The Pixies pictures are both 1950's models. The first one would be vintage 1953-56, and matches exactly the model 63 upright and the 82 Connie.
The 2nd one pictured would be from 1956 or later, its colors match the model 14 Larkand would be vintage 1956-58.
I don't know all the models of pixies, but there was one that matched the model 66 Convertible, and one later one that matched model 68.
I'd also have to look it up, but if my memory serves me, the dustette was produced through the late 40's and them morphed into the Pixie in 1953.
I'll check on that one. While Hoover heavily advertised in the 40's and 50's, the Pixie/Dustette got very little press...

The Hoover 1012, did you get it from UK or was it sold with you??, the bag isnt a UK one, ours were not as adventerous...LOL

I`ll send a spare furniture gard for it, got one around here somewhere.

im looking information for a this particular vacuum. my mother had a this avocado round ufo looking vacuum and i remember it was a hoover. i cant find it if anybody has a clue of suggestion please help me get back to memory lane
the model im estimating late 70s or early 80s
one thing too i remember it was loud i used to love riding on top of it lol
but we had a kenmore, rainbow and now a kirby which does the job but i want something new miele or a electrolux
