I Really Like It!

This is not too far off the direction I'm heading; I'm in a 1950 tract house. My collecting interests are a little different; I have a lot of '60s and '70s stuff like Corning Ware, Corelle and Betty Crocker silverware. But this is very appealing to me.

I have exactly the same modified Tudor archway that you have to the right of your fridge; mine is between my living room and kitchen.

I hugely envy you those marbleized red countertops, with their metal edging. It looks like you went to a fair amount of trouble to save them, putting in a sink that did not make it necessary to alter them unnecessarily. One of the things I dislike most about my own kitchen is that the original countertops have been replaced with post-formed ones.

My hat is off to you - you've really done a great job both collecting things and putting them to appropriate uses.

Thanks

My house is a built in 1948. Wonderful hardwood floors and cove ceilings in the dining house and living room. It has taken some time to get it here.

Thank you very much and good luck with your house.

Joe:

I'm impressed - Launderess don't stun easy! :)

I'm also impressed that you understand simplicity; most people today don't. Today's thinking is, "Why would you settle for less when you could have more?" You obviously understand the idea that people got along perfectly well back then with much less than most people think of today as the minimum.

Again, great work!

WOW! A walk into the past! AMAZING!!!!

Your kitchen looks great. How did you manage to come up with the idea to accessorize your DW to help it blend in? First time I've ever seen a stove with red controls. The red micro...than there's Kirby with his red accents!! Your color scheme is phenomenal.... everything co-ordinates. Can only imagine the amount of time you've spent on getting this pulled together.
Absolutely love the mason jar lamp next to the kitchen sink.

Then there's the laundry room...Maytag heater and wringer...poor lil bugeye Kenmore doesn't have any red accents...lol but I'm sure it's loved just as much.

{Pattin' my chest, trying to stop the palpitations, ya givin' me the vapor's}
;-) lmao

DW

The dishwasher was black to begin with. I took it apart and painted it white. Got a vintage Frigidaire emblem and a Frigidaire stove handle along with chrome accents and crest at the bottom.

Things like this just come to my mind when I think and then I put it together.

Thanks so much!!

I am so glad everyone likes my work so far.

I love, love, love your place.

I especially love the kitchen. But I have to know. Where did you hide the LG Super Steam Mega washer thingie? I know it has to be somewhere or do you really do all your laundry in the Wringer Washer? LOL.

Sorry I know many of you were thinking it. I just had to know. If that were my kitchen I have to admit I would have my self cleaning convection oven hidden away somewhere becuase I'm not going to ruin a good manicure on a dirty oven (Ralph ducks and runs)!

I, too, really love what you did with the dishwasher. As I was looking at the pictures and before I saw it I was thinking to myself I wonder if it's worth it having a kitchen like this and then giving up a dishwasher. Then I scrolled down and saw what you did. Brilliant!!

Yes

Yes, what you see is what you get. I do all my clothes with the wringer and dry them in my bug eye dryer. Use the stove and oven and make coffe with the percolator no coffee maker. Yes still have the newer dishwasher until I can find a vintage one to install, also have the microwave that looks vintage.

My whole house is full of vintage items that we use on a daily basis. 1941 Crosley Consol Radio, 1948 Emerson TV, 4 1930 and 1940 bakeilte rotary phones, ect.

My car is the one in the picture that goes with my name. It is my daily driver. A green 1949 Packard 23rd series 4 door sendan.

Trying to live a more simple life.

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I am glad your are enjoying the pictures.

Chrome

It is car door edge chrome. Work great on the tub edge but does not say on the agitator when clothes are being washed, so I just took it off. Chrome edge on tub looks good.

Thanks for your comments.
