Mysterious Hoover Automatic

Hi all, looking at proerty to rent earlier I stumbled accross a picture which left me sat gaping mouthed.

In the kitchen of the properly there is a vintage (appears to be late 70s) Hoover auto, the first thing that sprung to my mind was the original Selectamatic.

The only difference being that in the pictures we have of the first selecamatic, the fascia is largely black, whereas on this one it isn't.

Having scoured the net looking at different Hoover models of this time, the first selectamatic is the closest match I have found.

The dial appears to have a yellow (or orange?) trim around it, could this be some sort of exclusive model?

YOU MUST ARRANGE A VIEWING, FOR THAT INDEED LOOKS LIKE AN A3064 SELECTAMATIC 1100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POSSIBLY THE FIRST SOLID EXAMPLE ANYONE ON THE FORUM HAS EVER SEEN AND PROBABLY ONLY THE THIRD EVER PHOTOGRAPH/IMAGE POSTED OF ONE!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, if you can, you maybe should go and have a look and get an idea as to who you might be dealing with. Its an awkward one, as you dont want them to see you as a timewaster, as they want to rent their house - not sell you their washing machine.

You have found a very rare machine there and it would be a tragedy if, at the very least, details were not left with the owners for when the machine gives up the ghost.

Worryingly it could be sooner rather than later for, to turn Selectamatics on, you push the dial in! You dont pull it put.
All it needs is for someone not in the know to either break the dial and write the machine off OR report it as broken and then it gets replaced with a some cheap piece of....you know what I mean.

Ohhh - it feels just like when Seamus posted the photos of Stoke Damarell School and its Hoover 3236H Matchbox!

Could this be another Plymouth rescue mission?

....for the style of fascia that the machine you have found has, fits in much better with the A3062 Keymatic 1100, which sat just below it in the range...

The house the machine is located in is in Darlington ( we are pondering on a move back up north) so we would not be able to visit the property.

The advert does state that the kitchen includes "plumbing for a washing machine" not the machine itself, which implies the machine belongs to the owner of the house or the current tenant.

I'm more than happy to forward the full details on to anyone wishing to persue this further

How ironic that you are based in Plymouth (currently), with the machine based in Darlington.
Reason being that Gary (electron1100) is next door to Plymouth and his A3060 Electronic 1100 came from Darlington!
Also his A3060 from Darlington resided on a street called Cornwall Road!
Darlington must have had one hell of a relationship with New Magic's.

Right oh - I am not promising to get in touch with the landlord but, if you are OK with passing me their details, e-mail them across to me.
If there is anyone in a closer vicinity to Darlington and who is braver then me, then shout up.

Also Matt, there will have to be a certain amount of explaining to do were I to ring. I dont want to jeapordise you possibly getting this house, due to anything I MIGHT say in a conversation with the landlords. Is this house a possible goer for you? Just so that I can fathom out a possible conversation.

I did sign up on here a while ago, but haven't posted. I must say that I do look on the site often, having a soft spot for older machines.

I am going off the Hoover topic here, but yesterday, I was trawling through Rightmove looking at houses for sale in Leeds, for no reason inparticular, my brother has just been there for the weekend and I was being nosey. I worked in an Estate Agents on leaving school for six years and although I've done several jobs since, property still remains one of my interests. Anyway, I'm going on. I came across this picture with a square door bendix (sorry im rubbish at model numbers)in a very 70's looking kitchen. Infact the whole house is like a 70's timewarp, I love it lol. A young couple who lived in our street when I was growing up used to have one, it had been given to them. I saw it in action once but that was over 20 years ago. It just made me think that there must be loads of vintage autos knocking about like this. I would imagine that someboby moving in the house would completely strip the kitchen down and just get rid, replacing it with a modern machine without a second thought! Anyway sorry for going off topic and for going on!! Here is the picture......
