Need A New Refrigerator

Woke up in the middle of the night to a loud refrigerator! Needing a brand recommendation for a new one. Are there any brands to stay away from? Would like something that has good reliability. Current one is over 20 years old, can’t complain as it’s given good service, it was a GE.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Consider repair?  May be a simple item such as the condensor fan gone bad.

GE Top Freezer Models

Have had a lot of bad evaporator fan motors in the last 20 years or so that get very noisy.

 

If the noise is coming from inside the freezer this is an easy replacement.

Thank you!! I feel a little better knowing what is causing the noise. Yes, it’s a top freezer model. Think I’m going to try and get someone out here to repair, even though it’s older. Think it was bought 2000 or so. It’s been an excellent fridge.

Yes, I agree that a repair might be the answer.

 

However if the repair turns out to be too costly or not possible, I would recommend a Kitchenaid fridge rather than GE. I've had a SXS KA for about 20 years and it's been great. Also have a top freezer KA out in the enclosed patio, and that's been good as well, but I do prefer the SXS design.
