I'm going crazy. I am SO BURNED OUT at work, and really cannot tolerate another day in this office. I want to take a vacation, but I can't decide where to go. I've never really had a "real vacation", so I'm a little lost here.

I would LOVE to go to London/Europe, but I don't really want to have to wait for a passport. I am also considering:

- NYC
- Seattle
- Mexico
- Tour of the Midwest (Chicago, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota)
- Northern California
- Canada

As you can see, there are many places I have not been, and many I want to see. I have some $$$ saved up and want to get away for about 2 weeks. Anyone have any suggestions/recommendations? Has anyone been anywhere cool in the past few months that I should check out? Almost out of my mind here.....

US citizens

Don't need a passport for Canada, only good i.d like a picture drivers license and birth certificate (is best) or SS cards.
I'm enroute to having been to every state and province in N.America, only a few left to go, all driving. I love being in the car "alone" and just sightseeing, stopping where I want, visiting where I want for as long as I want, answering to no-one. There are so many things and places to go in Canada and the US, things to see etc. that most people never do because they're always just taking packaged holidays to Acupulco etc..boring boring boring in my mind. It's far more interesting driving into little towns in lord knows where, in my mind anyways. It's just me but I do my best to avoid big cities,, seen them before,so I tend to just pass on thru. When I drive home ever couple of years I try and alternate my routes so I hit places I've never been and spend the night in some hotel/motel along the way, no plans, no reservations, never had a problem, and most of all, the MAP is in the trunk for just in case but you never need one. So if I were you just pick one of those places, pack a suitcase, gas up the car and go, regardless if you don't make it and alternate your route or destination.

Louis: NOPE I dont think so, just a few forms of ID.
I recall that this was true definitely with Canada, but may have changed recently.

TEX: If you come to NYC, I will gladly host a wash-in and make a banquet in your honor! Also will give you my undivided attention on the weekends.

BTW=> I will be in Phoenix, AZ from 10-Sept-2005 to 17-Sept-2005 and look forward to seeing the southwest crowd.
Ross, be prepared! LOL

I want to see Breadstix West as Breadstix (East) was my favorite local haunt!

I mean how bad a time can I have? My accomodations have a W&D in the apartment!

Tucson, Arizona

Hi Tex. If you pass through Tucson, Roger, Nate, and Myself have plenty of machines for you to see and we would do special wash-in in your honour.

Vacation

Go to Seattle and then drive up to Vancouver, Canada..Check out the canadian washers and detergents. Also it is a great country. You will love it and very relaxing both Seattle and B.C.

Nation-Wide Wash-Ins

Wow Toggle, Westy.....

Thanks for the invites. I am seriously getting exicted aobut taking a vaction and getting away. I think I'm going to pick a region or two in the US and drive up and see things! Mini wash-ins, check out various stores for new types of detergents, maybe even drive up into Canada for some Lemon Tide. All that while also checking out local attractions, etc. So much planning to do here!

Tex,

I love NYC. I live about 1.5 hours from there and go up often to see shows, shop, and just hang out. It is a great place with lots to do and is never dull. I have only been in the Wall Street area for work and the Time Square area for fun. If you pick NY I could try to meet you there for a day. I could not get to the convention and would love to meet the people in this group.

Toggle, how far do you live from the Time Square area? I may interviewing for a job near 52nd and Lexington and be in the city more often if I get it.

have a great weekend

item #3 Long Island Rail Road

From NYC:
NJ is WEST
LI is EAST
other suburbs and majority of the state is north (see Metro North-- another rail road system.)
