Hi gang,
I just picked up my 1961 Frigidaire Imperial Frost Proof (you might have seen in my other post asking about the differences between the Imperial and the Deluxe) and realized that for some reason the bottom freezer door does not want to stay sealed shut via the magnetic seals. There is nothing related to the foot pedal mechanics that is keeping the door open and I've narrowed it down to two things that look peculiar to me: 1) the door itself doesn't seem to be aligned perfectly (the gap between the freezer door and fridge door is higher on one side than the other. 2) the top magnetic seal strip doesn't seem to have a lot of metal of the ice box frame to catch compared to the sides and bottom. Both of these may be the result of the freezer door being out of alignment and I'm wondering if anyone has instructions on adjusting the door alignment. The fridge door seals just fine and everything else works...just the freezer door won't create a good seal. Here is a pic with the current gap between the two doors for reference. I have tried to examine other pictures closely to see just how tight the gap is on other units but can't determine if mine is off. I've also noticed that, when looking at the side of the fridge where the hinges are mounted, the freezer door seems to be recessed further back into the unit that the upper fridge door. I truly believe this is an alignment issue and am hoping someone knows how you can adjust these doors per factory instructions.
Thanks!!
