Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true

WOW. Can I have one in pink? And the matching fridge and DW? Bri would flip over a kitchen like that.

What a beautiful stove! A fabulous modern appliance to make cooking for your family easy and automatic.

I wish I was Austin's brother.

"It's MY turn to wash the clothes!", "NO it's mine you jerk, you did it last night.", "MOM! Austin's hogging the Maytag"

Venus: "You boys learn to share or I'm unplugging the washer."

The TRUE story was I stuck my foot in my aunt's BD Whirlpool and my cousin ratted on me. "ooooh. Jason stuck his foot in the washer." (Aunt Lou) "GET OFFA THERE! YOU DON'T STICK YOUR FEET IN THE WASHING MACHINE", "But Aunt Lou, I want to watch the Agitator." "NO SIR! CLOSE THE LID AND GO IN THE ROOM"

Barbara...?

Eden?

Feldon?

Bel Geddes?

Bush?

And on a totally unrelated note, is it just me, or does "Barbara Bush" sound like an actress in, uhm, that kind of film?

What a beauty!!

Venus that range is soooooooo kewl!! It looks to be brand new. I just love it! It will get lots and lots of use once you get your kitchen remodel finished. So Old MacDonald.... What did you do with the ducks??? (don't use them in your new kichen, thats so 80's)!!!! LOL!!

Now tell us the ducks story.... Something your daughter and Tom brought home??? (I think. :)

The Queen and I

Thank you all so much for all of the wonderful compliments on the CI! I really wasn't ready to reveal her until she was in the kitchen, but Veg threatened to tell everyone that I colour my hair, or something to that effect! ;-)

A little on her history: she was part of a charcoal set including the matching refrigerator and dishwasher that a elderly lady purchased brand new. It was sold at an estate sale. The fridge was gone and I'm not sure what happened to the dishwasher. I am told that these Custom Imperials also came in navy blue and yellow. I have never seen anything like it. The photographs do not do it justice. Yes, it was very clean, but was left in the basement before she was shipped. I need to reattach two bezels and re-fasten the clock. I have yet to plug it in, so - who knows! Fortunately, Greg has one just like it and, I'm sure, will be a wealth of information!

Jason: You can be Austin's brother anytime! You're right; he does *hog* the Maytag! When he's at school I race around and cram everything into the washer so that I get a chance to use it. Can you imagine if we had a 1-18 in the laundry room? Oy vey!

Fred: She is sweet, but unlike Napoleon D., I don't plan on taking her on any "sweet jumps". I may cook some "tots" though. ;-)

Rick: I only wish the "ducks" were decor! Hayley wanted some ducks to go with the rabbit, eight cats, one dog, one whiptail lizard, and an aquarium full of tadpoles. Guess I just don't have enough to do around here. The ducks were so cute when they were little. Now I'm up to my ears in.......well, you know. :-0

Will post more pics of the range when she's finished with her mini face lift. As for you Veg.....you had better come clean, or else! BTW, you forgot Barbra Streisand (or were you just getting picky about spelling Barbara vs. Barbra). ;-)

I am so happy for you Venus, I think that is one of the most beautiful ranges that Frigidare ever made. I know that you are going to have so much fun cooking up lots of good things. What time is dinner?? Terry

Got rats?

Those are cute ... whatever they are's... you're daughter's holding...

I like pet rats. YES, RATS. They're very smart and some are very sweet and playful. My friend and I have a joint rat cage (he owns one, I own one) and it's at his house because my mom is deathly afraid of them. My rat, Hermione is very sweet but is not the smartest rat. Even Bri met Hermione and liked her. His new rat, Text (he's black and white) is very smart as well as sweet. Rats are the best entertainment. I'd say better than fish because you can't hold and pet a fish.

My very first rat, Luna was EXTREMELY smart. She learned her name in a day and she learned a few tricks. Too bad she caught the dreaded respiratory disease. She fought through the whole thing but it finally consumed her. It's a horrible death.

Why yes, I was being a stickler for spelling. Can't help it; English major. Apparently, it never goes away.

As for those ducks. You're not going to cook them in the new range, are you?? I know pen-gu-ins is practically chickens, but ducks...

Here's a dumb question: Do the oven doors on the CI swing out instead of down?

Barbara has an appointment at the beauty parlor (no salons for my old-fashioned gal, no sir) after which she will be ready for her closeup.

But that's another thread.

veg, who's still wondering where the gloves are

Only cats here...

I'm a cat person...always have been, and 8 "indoor/outdoor" cats is the ideal number for me, although my vacuums (and me) sure do get a workout cleaning the hair up, and I go through bags quite regularly! Even though I really don't think highly of the "non-domestic" animals, well, somebody has to wash the clothes dirtied by the nature interest, and I use the StainBrush quite frequently whenever I'm in the laundry room! Makes it that much more fun to do wash! And yes, Hayley got the nature bug from Dad, even when I was little he was always bringing "live" things home (OY). Still trying to find out where my mechanical/appliance bug came from...

Frigilux: ND is one of my favorite movies, and I'll agree, the '59 CI is SWEET!

Veg: I'm not sure if I'll ever want to try duck after looking at the mess these things make...gross. (Read: Cat Person)

Jason: Hayley has no interest in washers whatsoever, but she likes it that nobody else has a brother that likes to do the laundry. Maybe that's a good thing :) so there's no fighting over the Maytag, although I find myself washing late at night, and even when people are over...LOL! If the shed ever gets finished, it will be much more fun when the Westy and '82 Kenmore are hooked up, and the GE Portable is back in the house!

Enough ranting for now!

Hayley is a cute one!

Venus your daughter is a little sweetheart! She is so cute, just like her mom!! (I think she looks like you) She has those wonderful Wilder eyes. :)

DUH

I'm such a loser. Cute ducks. I just couldn't figure what those were and then it just clicked.

Jeez my mind is so fried as of late with trying to sell the trailuh and soon moving up to Massa-Bri-setts.

Of rats and men!

Jason:

Dude! I do believe a pet rat would put me over the edge! LOL Hayley, of course, would have a hundred of them! EIEI-OOOOOHH!
BTW, when's the big move?

Rick:

You are too kind! Don't let those cute little Wilder eyes fool you. If Hayley got together with Chris and Jamie, there would be much mischief! ;-)

Venus

I'm charcoal with envy. What a great range. Very well kept and best of all, it came with all of it's accessories. That's pretty rare these days I guess. Enjoy. By the way, do you have one of those Frigidaire crowns to go with those gloves?

Of rats and women

Venus: A pet rat would put you over the edge... Head over heels in love! When you hold a tame rat in your hand and watch his curiosity, sense of wonder of who you are and his world, you'll be hooked.

They're not gross at all. They CONSTANTLY clean themselves and each other whether the other rat likes it or not. They do not carry diseases. They do NOT bite. You have to give one a good reason to.

So, they're clean like cats, smart and friendly like dogs. They're cheap, easy to maintain and make good friends.

The big move: Well, my traila is sold, I'm gonna close on it next week. I'm getting stuff packed and ready to go to MA so moving day is April 18th. It will take 2 days in transit so I'll be at Bri's house tuesday, the 19th. YAY!

The Convention: I'm working on it. I'm going for darn sure. I'm working on getting Bri to come with me.

trailers and rats

You lived in a "mobile home"? Somehow I had the idea you lived in a little house of some type, was discussed during the hurricane how the water didn't make it up to washer level.

We had a pet rat, and before that, a pack of gerbils (which are illegal in CA). The only drawback is that they only live for about 2 years, so one has to go through the "grieving" thing a little too often. Even the average 15 years for dogs and cats seems to go by SO fast. Since 1971 have lost 7 dogs and 1 cat. (dogs were old age, cat was run over) and of course, had to watch them slowly go downhill before expiring. So having to deal with that every 2 years for rodents would be a little too much.

That range is very stunning - no other color like it, you really have to see it in person to believe it.

Jason - how great that everything has fallen into place for you so quickly! Moving to the Northeast will be quite a change in climate for you, good thing you're going in the Spring, you'll have time to catch some winter coat clearance-sales! Best of luck to you and I hope to see you (both) in June.

Veg - make sure Barbara's Beauty Operator does everything perfectly, you know how the paparazzi catch everything!

All rats go to heaven.

Kenmore: Yup, I'm trailer trash. Well, not trash. I live in a very well maintained trailer park. We're required to clean our homes clean and the yards mowed, etc.

On rats: Yes, they die quickly. If they catch the respiratory disease, death happens in a week and it's horrible to watch.

I've seen dogs and cats die too. Ours lived long, healthy lives but yea, when they get old it's horrible. Our dog was never spayed and got an infection in her womb. She died on the operating table. At least she was sleeping. Our cat died of old age right in front of the Frigidaire dryer. At least she had a sense of where death happens, right next to a WCI appliance.

Oh Venus

Lucky Gal, getting that stove. I had one the first time I was married in coppertone with matching single door pick defrost fridge. It was in an apartment. The 30 inch stove which I think was a 67 model was the best electric stove I ever used. If you haven't done Frigidaire before, I think your gonna like it. It's a real beauty that's for sure. Must be something about those big fat burner coils that makes em' cook good. Something definitely to treasure. Some members think I'm partial to gas, but not necessarily. When you get it into the kitchen, show us pix of it and the cooking done on it. Thanks David
