need help getting the basket out

I have a 1984 Kenmore 80 belt drive washer. I was able to remove the spanner nut. As I push up on the basket to remove it the basket is getting hung on some thing. I'm able to move it up several inches.

I wonder if it is hanging on part number 60 in the photo below? There are two grommets. Should these be removed?

You are most likely correct...

The inside ends of those two rubber plugs will often hang up on the basket drive block, which is part number 11 in the drawing.

Sometimes if you pull up the basket hard and fast enough, it will bounce past the grommets and come out, or the grommets will grab the drive block and lift it out along with the tub.

You can indeed take the grommets out and the obstruction should be gone. They may be a bit dried out or coated with debris and be difficult to re-install. I've seen debate about whether these are necessary to keep, but I like to put them back wherever possible.

Thank you for the quick reply. I just found out it is called as a grommet is the stopper. What is the purpose of the stopper? Here is a stock photo of one.

Actually it may not be the stopper/ grommet that is hanging. I think the stopper is below the edge of the drive block. Could it be hanging on some thing else?

I got the basket out! It took some twisting and then a good pull and it broke loose from the brown crude that was attached.
