Would you be able to wash out the thrust bearing with soapy water if its dirty or would that be pointless? and if you did do that what kind of grease would i use to grease it after cleaning it? and I also have to grease the motor glides on this washer and the only type of lubricant i have is WD-40...would that work or not?

I don't think those glides are meant to be lubricated. Also you need a special tool to release the brake spring. You can remove the pulley and washer stack, but that's as far as you can go. The brake hub could be sticking or the brake lining may have separated from the brake hub, and that might be what is causing the brake not to release to spin.

WD-40 is a cleaner, not a lubricant.

+1

WD-40 is Kerosene (OK Stoddard solvent technically) It works great for displacing water to prevent rust which is what it was designed for. Only time I ever use WD-40 as a lubricant is for tapping threads in brass.
