Hey All,

Okay, I have a Diehl six bladed fan, it looks like the one in this picture, but it's the "plain jane" version. It's basic black. The fan is fully functional but, it has two problems, first the bearings need replacing, and the pot metal motor casing, is cracking, and actually has a chunk out of it.

My cage is more ornate, looks like an early emerson.

First, since the motor casing is slowly disintegrating, this fan cannot be repaired? I heard that bearing can be repacked, but if the motor is probably toasted, would it worth it?

that being said, would this be an option?

The fan is 12 inch

Once again, AFCA pisses me off by not even letting me look at a picture.  They're not going to attract new members with that approach.   I only own one vintage fan anyway, and will take my chances rather than be a part of such a group.  OK -- rant over.

That is an attractive and unusual looking fan with the six blades, even if your fan is black.

I would hazard a guess that the stand and motor on ebay would work.  It wouldn't have made financial sense for Diehl to have produced major variations on its 12" stands and motors.   Since the seller doesn't offer returns, ask enough questions about the item to be sure you're buying something you'll be able to use.

Hope you are able to get your fan back in good order. I have an old Diehl that came from my dad's uncle's grocery store. It is about 16" in diameter, and all black. I'm thinking it's from the 30's. I'd like to restore it at some point in time; it's in storage right now.

Like Ralph, I was hoping to be able to see pics of the fans; some of them look really nice.
