Hi there. I have an old dishwasher that won't drain. I have tried to open it up to see if it is just clogged up, but once I get the spray arm off, I can't remove anything else! It is a Kitchenaid, model # YKPDJ630Y0. Does anyone have any ideas on how to proceed? Obviously, I have no experience with dishwashers other than filling and emptying them!

You'll probably need to pull the front panel off of the front, disconnect the rubber hose that goes from the pump and quickly put it in a bucket as the water from the dishwasher should drain out quickly.

I'll let one of our knowledgeable Kitchenaid specialists take over from here.

Did you recently replace your disposer? In selling  appliances for decades, I learned that some customers that buy disposers and install it are unaware of the need to punch out the plastic plate to open the drain there up for dishwasher drainage. When that happens, the water in the dishwasher has nowhere to go so it lays stagnating in the dishwasher. Check the drain hose for any blockage too.

That happened to a neighbor of ours a few months ago. They forgot to knock out the knockout plate in the top of the disposer where the drain hose from the DW connects to it. When I pointed this out to them they were quite embarrassed.
