got this last week....looks better then the picture does....replaced all the wax motors and the spin board is out being repaired..new tub bulb..just needs a new detergent dispenser bezel and lid and shes all ready to rock!!my new bedding washer less stress for the duet LOL...needs cleaned yet but looks like it was well cared for.NO MOLD ..sorry for the taken apart photos but I still need to put parts back....

Oh wow it was early enough to still have the wax motors for the dispenser? Still do not understand why they thought that would be a good idea vs. the later 4 solenoid water valve...

Congrats on your find! I am loving the recently revived MAH3000 I brought home a few weeks ago. Been the daily driver ever since. Of course I still spin the loads out in a Unimatic ;-) A nice modern front loader with speedy cycles and decent water consumption.

Okay, this is a really dumb question...but what is the difference between a wax motor and solenoid? I've noticed that this seems to be a Maytag thing...

Both accomplish the same thing....to convert electricity into motion. A solenoid does it quickly, but with a noisy "snap". A wax motor does it quietly, but more slowly, as the wax is heated and then expands and moves a plunger.

Board fixed

My freind soldered the board and she up and running for under 50.00 bucks and the machine was free.. new bulb and all 3 wax motors replaced and board repaired...WOOHOO

I got a neptune mah5500 this week end, haven't got deep into it yet, but i have a feeling it may need a bearing replacement...what would be involved in something like this or even the cost of the parts?

yea cool..question i had dont the wax motor and the little thing in the circut board too on my machine. and now she spins again but it lost the first spin after the wash part of the cycle. the final spin is just fine.. any idea why it lost its first spin?

I thought on these the timer advances when the board tells it to, otherwise it sits still, the board controls the cycle/functions and the timer just tells you where its at in the cycle...but if it doesn't move at all that could be the tiny motor in the timer dial....just not sure...

Brian - the timer motor on my MAH3000AWW is pretty noisy too, but seems to function just fine. I suspect that they were always noisy from the factory - but that is just my gut feeling. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I know the timers on the later MAH4000's weren't as noisy which is why I thought it strange when I first washed in the 3000.

I have had mine new since 1999 and the timer has always been very loud when advancing in the cycle. Always works though.
