Neputne Still Made!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The dryer matches with the frontloaders with the glass door. Those are Bauknecht (Whirlpool) machines.

I never understood the capacity rating in Australia. The drum of the Neptune is much bigger than of the other frontloaders, noone will ever be able to stuff 8.5kg of laundry in the TOL model with glass door.

Hi Guys,

The maytag stuff isnt made here, so unless they're still churning them out in the US, I doubt it would be possible to buy one. I havent seen one on the shop floor anywhere for 12 months or more. I keep an eye out on ebay, but because they are so rare, even the first generation Neptunes still sell for $400-500 dollars.

To get one here, they were $2599AUD which never made them very popular. Whirlpool attempted to sell the Duet here for a period of time, but with a $3500AUD price tag it only lasted a couple of years and dissappeared. LG and Speed Queen are the only Large capacity FL machines you can get here now.

The rating system here is bizzare. Thats the sales spiel that Miele use, if you pack a 5.5kg Miele full you'll find that the same load wont fit into a 8.5kg LG or the such. There is a specific standard, but I dont know how it gets it so wrong. I need to weigh a full load in my 5.5kg Miele, because I can pack it full and still get good results.

My Aunt has these white embrodered bedspreads that dont even half fit into her 7.5kg LG. Its a squeeze, but all other than the king size one fit into the 5.5kg Miele, and it gets the dirt stains caused by her and dog out.

It's leftover stock, that's all.

After they discontinued the Maytag Atlantis top loader, the matching dryer was still available on their website for over a year.

I've used the Neptune in holiday park laundries in far north Queensland. Councils there have encouraged such parks to change their commercial top loaders to front loaders by giving them cash incentives.

discontinued

Maytag ran out of this stuff a long time ago (over 6 months, possibly over 12) in Australia. Whirlpool are just too lazy to update their website. Or repair lots of broken fridges.
But I won't go into that!
