Ta Da!

And here she is! What a beauty!

And unfortunately, straight into the storage locker! I don't believe she's ever been wet! (Oh my!)

Anyone able to age this machine exactly?

And... Does anyone have an owners manual for this model? I'be easy purchased the ones from here, but they're not an 'owners manual' per se...

Cheers
Steve

Thread Moved from As the Tub Turns to Imperial

Congratulations Steve, thrilled you got it! Always fun to see a never used machine find a good home.

Steve, Yea!

HI Steve, You are going to love this machine. A word of caution. After you have lubricated the cables etc., when you use move the various functions, take care and don't break them off. I did laundry in mine last weekend. Just take your fingers and move them where each tab is connected and not on the outer edge or side. If they work loose, there are small screws that can be tightened. Have fun with this washer. Gary

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

what an AWESOME find!!

i LOVE it. and BRAND NEW/NEVER USED to boot!!?? that is just too cool!!!

again, CONGRATULATIONS!!! this is definitely something that looks like it would be neat/fun to use!!!

:o)

Thankyou!

Thankyou for all the kind words folks!

I can't wait to get this baby out and play with it... I think it will be a heap of fun! Who wants to come and do a maiden wash???

So....

Wanted to replace the origin power flex on this beauty as the original is a little on the 'seen better days' side of things...

Off to the hardware store we go, get some new flex etc, flip the machine over and discover that I can't 'easily' access the connectors where the flex meets the motor...!

Help!!

Has amine got any experience with replacing a cable on one of these? The machine is amazing, just the power cord is really rough. The rubber drain hoses look fine...

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Power Cord

Oh, I have not worked on many Easy Spin-Dry machines, but it looks like you may have to remove the motor to replace the cord properly.

It was generally much harder to work on older appliances, although they were usually easy to get older things apart but much harder to get them back together again.

Today the challenge is often getting them apart without breaking the item, but the neat thing is newer appliances just go back together very easily, this is because today engineers design things to be assembled quickly and efficiently so it often amazes me how easily things go back together that you struggled with to take apart.

I bet it's not that difficult

but yes, the motor will have to come out to replace the cord. And by the looks of it, I wouldn't plug it in until you do! The cord terminals will have contacts, screws, in the motor. There's usually a cover on the motor held on with 2 screws. As long as you're at it, update the cord with a 3 pronged grounded one if it doesn't already have one. You can place the ground contact on one of the cord cover screws. Why be half safe? She sure is a beauty! I always wanted to try one of these. Growing up my friends Mom had one she used when her automatic was broken. Which seemed to be broken a lot. That was the late 60's. She's got to be 90 by now and I wonder if her old Easy is still in her basement.

Cord replacement

On our Spin-Drier, the cord meanders to the on/off - speed control section on the control panel that's held in place with springs.  Getting in there is a beeyatch.  Do some of these go to the motor first?  The wires would have to wander through those switches before heading to the motor, no?

On ours, taking the top off the tubs helps a lot.  But the faucets make it a super PITA.  Come to think of it, doing just about anything on a Spin-Drier is a super PITA, but they're so lovely when they run.

Late congrats on this clean looking Easy. Though not a fan of the earlier washers, they always generate a smile, especially the shape of these. I'm surprised at the size - it's not a big as it photographs; makes sense for the smaller homes most had in the 40's/50's and early 60's. Best wishes- hope the cord replacement happens without too much difficulty.

Thanks mate...

But the cord replacement process came to a rapid grinding holt... Urgh - once I flipped it over - I discovered that I was clearly way off in thinking it would be a simple process...

For the moment - due to lack of time, and patience and most likely skill, I've wheeled it back into the corner with the replacement cord in the tub and have left it be. It seems that it will be a bigger task than I anticipated - or could be bothered to take on right now...

Admittingly - given the size of it - I shall take some pics of this one - side by side with the Brand New Twin Dexter I just got for size comparison... However - you'll find those Easy's can still tackle a big load with ease!
