That KA is beautiful.

I love the color of those racks. It seems a brighter blue than we are used to but I guess it could be just that they haven't seen as much use. Does anyone now what that round circle is to the left of the Spray Arm in the bottom?

Hey RevinKevin

Wow, I did not know that!
My motor runs only during agitate and spin, not during fill, and since the brake very evenly and routinely stops the tub within about 10 seconds, yes I know it is a brake model. It may be 1974, not 73, can't tell.

So the "Banging solenoid" models never had any brake???????? What did the motor accomplish while running during fill? Was the rinse fill longer than the wash fill since water was being spun out as it started filling, or is that the reason it continues to fill a while after agitation starts?

News all the time here, lessons to learn, thanks
Mark

Akronman, the SQ ST machines always had the pump and motor running on the "banging" solenoid machines. IIRC, the pause before spin ST SQ's had a reversing motor with a pump that pumped to drain in both directions.

Great Video Leon, thanks!

Super Finds there! I wonder if your fluid drive is sticking slightly and not completely disengaging or it could be the shaft it floats on is dry and needs lubing. Robert has great service manuals here to see what I'm talking about.

I remember using these machines a lot on Cape Cod when I was a kid.

WHoa! Those spin bearings are shot! they sound like a 747 taking off LOL !

SQ water use----EPA, Gov Brown fits--Let Them! Now if THEY were paying my water bill then it would be a concern to them.If I find one of those at the swap shop here-I WILL buy it and USE it!!Better than those "washers" that roto till and dough knead your clothes in only tablespoons of water.

Wasn't there a Canadian Speed Queen model which had a pressure switch instead of a timed fill?

Watching the videos here, timed fill kind of rubs me the wrong way, especially on the wash cycle. (All that soap going down the drain.) Although, I can see the need for the overflow rinse with this type of machine.
