Yay, just picked up a 59' Kenmore 70 washer and a 60' kenmore 60 dryer off craigslist baltimore. SCORE...he said he had gotten them from a collector in western maryland. Any of our guys remember this set? He said they had a small sale, i don't remember one but who knows. He also has a great kelvinator chest freezer but it is a bit beat up. Do any of you in the tristate area have a nice working 50's (lots of chrome) chest freezer they would like to sell me? PLEASE, Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Thanks

HAHA?

Do you mean i am on a hot streak finding vintage beauties like this pair? I agree then whole heartedly. ;)

Ya sure it's a 1959 and not a 1960?

Wow, I'm gonna cry. I've not seen that washer since I was 11 or 12 at the oldest. Next door neighbors, on the other side of us --not the LK Combo hoouse, had this washer. I loved that machine. She used liquid wisk and snowey bleach.

your new Kenmores

were mine... They were passed along to me by another collector who was downsizing a while back. As my collection grew - a few things had to go... as much as I want to... I simply can't keep everything!
The guy in Baltimore that you got them from recently came out to my place to buy the Kelvinator chest freezer and a really cool Philco fridge that I had a double of... he was interested in an old washer and dryer so I made hime a package deal for the lot.
They are beautiful machines - I am glad that they are still in the network!

LOL

Well it is a small world after all. :) Well i have to give you (bygted) a thanks for keeping these beauts out of the recyclers hands. I promise as long as i am around, i will try and keep them safe. :)

BTW...thanks washmeup ... i would definitely take you up on that dinner.

Awwww, Bob

I really like that pair. Looks to me like they were styled with the man of the house's eye for industrial design in mind. They are real beauties and I can see how they would bring a man like Bob to tears.

Wow, nice find. 50 years old. They've dashed the odds.

And, yes, I have to add to the consensus, you are cute. Let's make the dinner outing a three-sum.

:-)

Amazing

These are amazing machines. My grandmother's sister had a set just like these. I only got to see them in operation once. For some reason, I thought the time dial was bi-directional. Of course, I was only 5 or 6 and could barely see over the top of the machine.

Looking forward to larger pictures and perhaps a few action shots as well.

Congrats,
Malcolm
