Hey guys, should I........

A colleague at work has offered me a Bosch washing machine. She didn't know the model right off (she said..it's a washing machine, that's all that matters). Apparently it is just a couple of years old and the "on" switch stopped working. She does not like to bother with repairs so she called the local dealer and just had them send out a new machine. This one is sitting in her garage and she told me to come pick it up (free) if I want it.

Sure I want it and will go pick it up next week (she has the flu right now so I told her I would come by next week) ...so here is my question: How hard is it to get a part if I just an individual and not a service shop? This would be my first repair to a modern appliance. Good move?

You should be able to order the part from Bosch or a local, independent appliance repair place. I called Bosch when I acquired a floor model pedestal, for free no less, that needed the installation parts. The parts department sent them out to me with out much fuss, also for free. HTH, Todd
