Your Majesty, we would concur that this mixer has Kenwood origins, the mixer we understand has been one of the gold standard mixers on your side of the pond for generations. There are actually a number of brands stateside that are marketing mixers based on the Kenwood model.

We saw this mixer in a store for the first time yesterday, and we just viewed the video on the Cuisinart site. It does appear this mixer has some very nice features indeed. They definitely do the splash guard better than KA, and we liked the timer and the "pulse" and "fold" features. They also use a sort of plastic mat in the bowl mount, which purportedly prevents the bowl from overtightening on the base during extended mixing, as can sometimes happen on the KA tilt head models. The nonstick coated mixing attachments were interesting, and the fact that they are dishwasher safe may sway some customers chagrined by the fact that the mixing attachments on certain KA models are no longer so, unless they've changed that back recently. We think the one large handle on the KA bowl is perhaps a bit more tenable than the two small ones on the Cuisinart, thought this may be a minor quibble.

However, unless something abruptly changes, we don't anticipate KA losing its market dominance anytime soon. Stateside, they still seem to have a hold as far as history, ready availability of their mixers and attachments, and certainly of colors (LOL). Matter of fact, the store we visited yesterday now offers different color schemes by season.

We viewed in the same store a 6 qt. professional KA mixer, and we have to say we were also quite impressed with it, and it appears to be very convenient to use. It seems to have a wider diameter bowl which we feel would make it easier to work with than the taller, narrower ones, and we are warming to the "bowl lift" design.

notice how Cuisinart tried to mimick the feet of the KA bowl lift? this reminds me of a Farbeware branded NIB mixer i saw on ebay while back. it was a Kenwood but i forgot to bid on it.

Yup-Its a Kenwood-I have a 7Qt 1000W machine under the "viking" name. The Cusinart machine is so similar-but their controls are diffrent-the "Fold" feature-and Countdown run timer.Otherwise the speed fader dial is the same. The power takeoffs are the same. However the Cusinart attachments arte different-the blender is Cusinarts design-the huge jar with the tiny blade assembly.Gave my Cusinart blender away that had this type of jar and blade-lots of food and ice chunks. The Kenwood blender is better.Mine has the Kenwood blender. Will look at this machine at Bed-Bath -Beyond-there is such a store in my area.Watched some of the videos on the machine-that chocolate Frosting--looks so good-Please hand me the bowel of it thru the computer screen-would love to eat that-it does have everything that is bad for you but would taste so good! The Macadamia nut cookies sound good too-and watched the video on the attachments. The sound of the machine is just like a Kenwood.Sounds just like the "Viking" one I have. Also after the countdown timer has stopped the machine-the timer sounds.

The KA bare aluminum attachments make me nervus-Like the coated ones better-the Cusinart machine has them and some of the older KA machines. The Viking I have has all SS attachemtns-and they can go into the dishwasher without worry.Wonder why KA went to the bare metal tools?Any ideas why-?Just makes their machines LESS convenient to use-I have such a KA and it sits in the corner. The Kenwood machines are more convenient.

1000 watts, wow. I wonder if the Cuisinart has that many watts.

Happy to hear a good report about the Viking. One of the women on my cooking forum has one and really seems to like it.

I don't know why they went with the aluminum attachments on some of the KA mixers. I think you can get the coated in any size, but one wonders why they don't just stick with the coated and forget the bare ones altogether.

Ooooh, a timer!

It looks like a very heavy machine. 25 lbs - that's like lifting a toddler. 7 quarts is a lot of cake batter too! Amazon.com has a 5 1/2 qt. version to for a hundred bucks less ($349).

It's interesting that when they demo the easy clean-up benefits in the video, they are placing the pieces in a (new) KitchenAid dishwasher.
