I own a small Appliance shop, and directs drives are my bread and butter. It is the most simple, elegant washing mechanism ever made. But the new ones are just shit. I put in a new, cheap Amana the other day and it just roars and shakes. And the Kitchen Aid's with their cheap, clanky switches. I could go on and on. Ten years ago a cheap estate was a hell of a machine.

I feel better now...

I'm afraid that it's only going to get worse. That's why I started hoarding vintage parts like no tomorrow. I'm still (barely) in my 20's and I have a ways to go before I take a dirt nap. I gotta keep these vintage machines going until I die or else being forced to use modern crap will prematurely kill me.

BTW, Welcome!

Long Live The Belt Drive!

I've never had a direct drive machine. My belt drives just keep going and I keep fixing them, though not very often. They don't need much fixing.
