Our kids have had a Kenmore model since about 2013 or so. No problems yet. They use it almost every day. It's a middle of the line model, stainless inside an out.
Can I presume the motor parts are mainly sourced from China?
I saw one on Amazon for $39.95, and another for $94.99.
Looks fairly easy to service. If the correct motor is only $40, well it's probably not made to last a super long time, but many parts are simpler today, and thus cost less to make.
So, plastic is plastic, etc. Some is susceptible to chlorine and or mineral erosion.
Average life being 8 to 10 years for a dishwasher, and price points not super high, as usual, I think Whirlpool still offers a good product.
